Serious lack of vendor money
I know there are mods ( kind of ) to add money to vendors but seriously Bathesda what were you thinking?

5K on some
11K on others
72K for ship vendors

I am level 69
I can steal 8 ships via piracy, each ship sells for over 100K, ( Valentine has a 400K+ listed price at level 65+ ) then there are all the weapons from each ship I sell added to my main cargo.
Each hand weapon has a value of 4K to 12K
Just one or two weapons cleans out a standard 5K vendor for 48 hours
A standard haul can net me over 30 weapons
Many ships I have to sell for less because ship techs just do not carry the cash unless I stumble across one with 160K .

Game breaking BS from Bathesda not testing their game enough.
It should be a priority to add more money to vendors, especially mid to late game.
It is not hard to capture level 60-75 enemy ships with EM weapons if you fly a ship built for tanking and shield stripping.

The game economy makes no sense. This vendor thing is a problem with a lot of their games, and it's weird they haven't resolved it.

A pretty easy fix would be to scale the available money based on your level. It's still nonsense, but it would at least allow you actually sell things.

Or... just give them infinite money? If I'm selling to the Trade Authority, which appears to be some kind of super corporation that makes the governments feel nervous, why do they have such a low limit (and terrible selection)? If the work around to all this limited money is to jump from system to system or just use the 'wait' option, why is there the limit? How it is it making the game better?

There's not really a reason to even have money in this game. There's nothing to buy.

They should really lower the sell value of weapons and equipment by like 90%. Looting anything else doesn't make sense after a few levels. And increase the merchant money by 1k per point in the commerce skill.

this is one issue that is driving me nuts each time i do another NG+, i've given up on collecting more than a couple of high value things here and there, because otherwise it takes too long to sell for decent cash... once i can pay for that initial stolen ship to reg, i'm pretty much sticking to them despite low payouts... easier to store those spare ships to sell.

Does it go up that much for ships with bigger drives?
I think you misunderstand.
The registration cost is not held or taken by the ship technician, only ship buy/sell credits.
You only take III rated ships.
The III Eclipse Condor has a sales price of 84K, the Valentine high level over 100K.
The ship vendor still needs to hold over 400K to buy the ships I steal, thats just for 3-4 ships, I normally have 8 from a level 75 system.

You must be low level?
The value of items is fine.
Otherwise you may as well just get rid of it all.
Tweaking numbers does nothing, the vendors need more money, its a s simple as that.

In case you haven't met her yet, in the residential area of New Atlantis there's a weapon merchant with 12,500 credits to buy with. Richest merchant I've seen excluding ship sellers.

If you ship build , you need money, standard upgrade per ship is 200K and that's using a stolen ship as a base.

I wish there was something to buy. We're given ships through quests so we don't need to build one. We're given an apartment so we don't need to buy one. The money becomes pointless very quickly.

I had to wait about a whole week just to drop off all of the contraband I seized from the Vulture's Roost. All of that time waiting to dump illegal cargo could've been spent towards something more productive. Trade Authority should be stinking rich as opposed to meagerly wealthier than most merchants.

I believe it has been done to make the player travel.
I get it but I totally agree with you.
I can steal more from a Galbank ship in a level 75 system than what the Trade Authority carries.
Bathesda need to release the build tools so we can just get on a make a great game from the bare bones version ( which is quite a good starting place )

I literally have 1 mill in illegal goods that i refuse to travel the universe to try and sell them all. its a bit ridiculous.
Rasjel Sep 27, 2023 @ 3:14pm
also stumple ofer this.
in skyrim you can infest in a Trader to give them more money later.
and here you can skill to get more money for selling.
i cant even sell the stuff i have...
i am now 62 and i got more and more weapons and gear that goes to the 5k mark.
so i can sell 1 item per Vendor... that is ridiculus.

make one mission. then fly to all the major citys and sell you stuff. next mission.
i wouldn do this if i didnt need the money.
but you lose all money and your ship after a universe switch so i have to grind that money again to rebuild my beloved ship. and that thing was expenisv.
lost 1.000.000 after my first universe :(

Use mods to fix the broken unfinished garbo stuff about this game. There is one to tweak how much cash a vendor resets with every 2 days. By default its 5k.

But yea, almost no play testing went into this game. So much obvious stuff even a cursory play session quickly uncovers.

Another disappointment in one of the worst gaming slumps in history.

The "daily" pot at each vendor and the TA kiosks is silly. Just to move all my contraband after each set of quests and um... health inspections of Ecliptic, Spacer, and pie-rat facilities, I have to wait 48 in-game hours after each time that I sell 8 to 20 goodies, because none of the fences can buy in bulk any of the fresh, transplantable organs, stolen art, space skooma, and catalytic converters that I cut off of mecha,
