Any way to stop the game from constantly freezing?
I got the game when I upgraded to a new PC and the specs for the computer are not god bending or anything but I can't even play the game on low graphical anything without it freezing every 2 or 3 minutes and loading for about a solid minute before I can play another 2. I just barely made my character and walked out of the room and that has taken almost an hour and a half total.

Put it on a SSD.

General advice is driver update, installing on an SSD, closing other programs. Beyond this, I've heard a lot of success using Battle Encoder Shirase and limiting between -5% and -10%. However, on certain lower system specs (such as mine with a 1060 6gb and an i7-4770k), this probably won't help a lot. I soldiered through the whole game but it's certainly a fight.

Right now there are also reported issues on Nvidia and Intel hardware so take that as you will.

Have you tried not playing it??? Any other games that have constant freezing or anything?

Remove all overclocks. That removed it for me.

Everything I have is heavily OC'd and I have zero issues? I've never even crashed once.

Only other game I played was Stellaris since I put it together and it works fine during that. I am reinstalling the game now. I have an external HD and defaulted game installation onto that and not the internal SSD. Hoping that'll fix it and the reason it didn't load right is just imma dummy

The game definitely needs to be installed on an internal SSD. External SSD's (and any kind of non-SSD mechanical HDD) are going to exhibit these issues. The audio sync issues in particular are something that tend to manifest when the game is installed on a slower drive.

If you continue to have issues even after that though, please check this out and go through the troubleshooting steps to see if anything improves for you.

While it's mainly concerned with actual visual glitches and crashing, or not being able to play at all, note the DISM and disk scan steps in particular, if you continue to have poor load times and audio sync issues. And verify your game install. But I strongly suspect the issue will be rectified by installing on your internal SSD.

the game seems to be broken for some players right now. i have a good pc speccs ( pc is slightly older but was top end 3 years ago, got a mate with a 2 month old top line pc with similar issues )
The game runs like ♥♥♥♥ for me and keeps crashing and freezes about every couple of minutes for 5-10 sec.
I am playing in 1080p lowest settings in windowed mode with everything else closed.
Fresh Windows install and pretty much only starfield installed right now ( both on my m2 )
and still cant get this running properly ( first time i have had so many issues with a game with over 25 years of gaming )

I think i will uninstall for now and come back in a couple of months when this is hopefully fixed.
Anyways last time I ever preorder a betheda game..

That fixed it! Thanks all :D Turns out I'm just dumb and was ruining my own experience. Running great on high graphics and no stuttering or freezing

I started having some crashes after about 30+ to 40 hours of gameplay. I think my shaders were corrupted. I recently cleaned out the shader cache for the game and it may have halped me. I haven't crashed in about 10 to 12 hours since doing so.

Close Starfield
For NVIDIA users: Navigate to the directory “%LOCALAPPDATA%\NVIDIA\DXCache”
For AMD users: Navigate to the directory “%LOCALAPPDATA%\AMD\DxCache”
Delete all files inside “DxCache.”
Navigate to “%LOCALAPPDATA%\Starfield\” and delete Pipeline.cache as well.
