How tto trade items with a companion?

I'm carrying too much stuff. I want to let Vasco carry it for me. I hit the Let's trade" option on Vasco, but I can only see his inventory, not mine. How do I open my inventory so that I can pass stuff to Vasco so that he can carry it for me?

There is a button you press to swap inventories. I use controller and the button id LB.
The UI shows you which buttons to press to do stuff like this. Just direct your eyes to the lower right hand section of the screen while you are browsing his inventory. it is the same functionality for every interaction you have with inventories (buy/sell, cargo etc.).

Either pres I, or tab, then click on the inventory. To trade with companion, you talk with them, choose trade dialogue, then use Q to go shift between theirs and your inventories.

Leqesai, it doesn't say anything on the screen. I'm on PC. Look, I've been playing games for decades. I normally have no issues with the controls. This game? Not so much.

Most menu screens have the full list of controls at the bottom of the screen. You can read the key bindings there.

When you're in the inventory screen looking at your companion's stuff... move your eyeballs to the lower right section of the screen. The area that says the controls. That's probably where you want to look to learn the controls...

When talking to companions/followers/crew that you can trade with, select this option:

Look at the bottom of the screen. Hitting "take" will remove things already in your companion's inventory. To give them something, instead hit the key listed for "INVENTORY."

Select the category of gear you want to give them. Which will, for example, when choosing "APPAREL," look like this:

Hit the shown key for "TRADE" to give a selected item to them.

Wow, I really have to squint to tell that that letter is a Q. I kept pressing O wondering why nothing would happen. Guess it's time for glasses.
