Pretty much unplayable for anyone else ?
Running this on an R77 5800x3D, 3070Ti, 32GB 3200mhz DDR4 installed on a Samsung 970 Evo + before someone hits me with the "Get a better rig bro" excuse :cozybethesda:

The game is just horrendously made for PC, I wouldn't be surprised if this was another forced out "We originally made this for big daddy Microsoft on their Xbone and they wanted it on PC too so here's a half baked Wii-U version, Be happy you got anything." type of deal.

Doesn't matter what settings i'm on, Every single first dialogue line from characters is like one of those cheap Kung Fu movie dubs where they move their lips for 5 seconds then i get a subtitle dialogue 10 seconds later while they stare blankly into my soul.

On top of this, Half the audio in the game just decides it's on a siesta and not clocking in for its shift too. I'll be full sprint and hear a footstep every 2 seconds when my camera is bobbing around like i'm in the Olympic 100m dash, I'll dump a whole magazine into an enemy (While my screen decides it's going to freeze up because "oh no, sudden flashy lights can't handle that!!") and maybe hear the last 15 rounds go off of a 40 round Maelstrom magazine.

Beyond that minor annoyance, Every 30 seconds while walking my game will just decide to seize up and drop from between 60-80 FPS down to 3 FPS literally locking the game into the same freeze frame while i still hear my character walking/landing/shooting (If the game has even decided to actually play out a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ audio queue for those actions this time around)

TL;DR Between having a default terrible FPS for most PCs that don't require a 2nd mortgage, The audio desync for arguably one of the most important aspects of an RPG (Talking to the NPC's and interacting with the worlds around you), The game not playing half the audio queues for the interactions you do every few seconds/persistently while playing (Walking, Shooting, Reloading, Opening containers etc), Not having half the QoL settings that even MOST Indie made games have on release (Seriously, I Shouldn't need a f*cking mod and tweaks to my .ini file to make my FoV not feel like i'm wearing a set of horse blinders), Or the game saying "You pressed a menu button, We're frozen for 5-10 seconds while we open your inventory/map!"or better yet "You're in the middle of a firefight ? Yeah freeze the frame for the same time while you still hear the enemy shooting at you but are literally helpless to stop it!"... It's all a bit of a joke to Bethesda at this point, eh lads?

I wanna but the game in steam, but the optimization its reported for some many players.
And no news on patch.
With that computer you "fly" in games but its not the case here.

runs fine for me with AMD 5600x & 7600. 32GB ram and SSD.

Set on custom med/high settings with FRS on and sitting between 40 and 55 for me. No choppy or audio issues.

All of your issues sound like what people using HDD's report. I'm not even using an M.2 SSD and am not experiencing any of these issues.

Sorry to hear about that, but I'm quite literally running what are effectively the same spec's and having 0 issues running at 2560 x 1440 on Ultra (or high, in the categories that only run high).

Even VSync is on....

I've noticed that having multiple tabs of browsers open and having other video's playing causes framerate issues on *those* programs, but I set Starfield to 'high' priority and quite literally haven't had an issue maintaining framerate. I've only encountered 2 bugs in my entire playtime (which is already remarkable for a Bethesda game, just saying)

If you want to compare hardware and test settings, happy to help. While it's obviously not just you having issues, there are definitely some of us having 0 issues. So the cause is very likely hardware, settings, or software related (since others are capable of not having these issues)

Don't take that as a personal attack, I'm just saying that its obviously possible to run the game well, so lets figure out why its not.

Bethesda probably could have done a better job making sure it wouldn't have issues, but such is life. If you need help figuring out why, I'm happy to help.

So, basically you have a system slightly better than an XBX. What settings are you playing on? I would suggest FSR on and locking to 30fps.
xShapelessx Sep 9, 2023 @ 6:34pm
why doesnt mine do this with 3060 ti, 32 gb ram and a ryzen 5 2600 x though????? It could have better performance, but you are either exaggerating or there is something going on with your computer software wise that could be causing this.

Sounds like pc is ♥♥♥♥♥♥ bro.

Your symptoms strongly suggest an issue loading assets from the disk drives. So yea, if you don't have an SSD, you don't meet the min-spec and its not really an issue with the game. If you do have an SSD there could still be a problem with your setup causing poor read times(something wrong with your disk drives) or excessive paging(running out of RAM) that you should look into.
Morgian Sep 9, 2023 @ 6:42pm
The game runs mostly OK on my 3080. But the loading times are horrible. Doesn't matter if when transitioning from ship to planet or on the same planet, you have to wait.
Even worse, because it interrupts the gameflow, are the breaks when starting to talk to someone. He stands there moving the mouth, and the sound comes 10 seconds later. It does not happen all the time, and it drives me crazy not knowing how to improve it.
For example, it is a long delay when entering the Well and talking to a NPC. But when talking to another, the delay is gone. It returns when walking to the Authority and talking to the merchant.

Probably related, when I move along in the Well, the sound of the NPCs fades out, as if left behind, and returns when I stop moving.
Makes me almost think that the problem isn't the graphics, but the audio.
