whats the point of building a big ship???
i finished building my "cargo" ship. a hauler with over 8000 cargo space i intended to use to only store resources in.
whilst building it i kept telling myself i wouldnt fly it anyway, so whats the point of putting in weapons and shields....

when i was finally done, i transferred all resources from my current ship to my inventory, swapped to the hauler, dropped everything in that one, only to find out that when i swapped back to the other ship... all resources were transferred back into it, making it pointless to craft a ship for storage.

i have been reading that there is an infinite storage box back at the lodge, however, this is not the solution im looking for.

what im looking for is that every ship has its own storage, and not a linked one like it is now. seems like the devs didnt take into account that people would be willing to build specific ships for specific jobs.

is there any one that has a solution or the same problem?

Bigger is better.

Bruh. My ship has 15k storage and 3k fuel. It can house 8 members and has all crafting stations. And that right there, is why you have a big ship.

Every ship does have its own cargo hold, hence why it transfers when you change ship? How would you access a cargo hold that is essentially in storage on a different planet?

You just also just build an outpost and store your stuff there.

Also you can just swap ships and the cargo will move over, so no need to move it to your inventory first.

Yeah, its a flaw in the ship system. It would be better if ships didnt automatically transfer their cargo and kept their own storage, just like outpost containers do.

I guess they intended us to use an outpost for full storage.

Oh, do I hate auto transferring cargo. I can't even fathom what kind of fever dream conjured this obnoxious design decision. I'd much rather have each ship holds its own cargo... without the magical teleportation nonsense.

this would have been the better design choice.

i failed to mention that i havent unlocked all "perks" yet to go bigger, hence why im only sitting at 8000 at the moment. i was planning on expanding it as soon as i had unlocked the perks i needed for expansion.

unfortunatly i dont see you, or myself for that matter, batteling ships with that cargo ship in high end zones, wich is another reason why i built my hauler, so i could swap between my overpowered "customized" razorleaf, fill up its cargo and transfer it later to that hauler.
ps: dont take this as having a go at you mate, it totally is not.

wel, thats the problem im having, i want the cargo to stay in the ship instead of transferring over.

however, i will try and build an outpost and see how that works out for me. seems like it is going to be the way to go for me.

thanks all for the replies so far!
