Lung damage while wearing a SPACE SUIT?
While mining --- Um, this game and it's tutorial system, always helping me understand how it makes sense, oh wait....

sometimes the environmental damage is too extreme for the gear you're wearing. usually lung damage comes from corrosive environment. what would make sense more to me is damaged equipment if it fails the protection req, then ya, lung damage. but you don't need to repair your stuff in this.

Space suits dont protect to EVERY element in game.
Read the stats and dont keep at 1 suit all the time ;)

You do get a warning that your suit's capability to protect you has gone.

I'm not sure about the mechanic and whether its realistic but its not like the game doesnt caution you

To be fair, your spacesuit is probably riddled with bullet holes.

You don't have a limited air supply either, therefore you can choose to believe it's a different method than the one we know (storing Oxygen in compressed/liquid form) with different rules or you can bicker how it is not realistic...

Because taking 20 bullets in the face while wearing a spacesuit but being fine after sleeping for an hour does make a lot of sense, right? ^^

I would have been all for a limited air supply while exploring, I think taking an hour or maybe 90 minute tank would have been cool, so many other things but fair enough, and the bullet hole comments, spot on.

I wasn't expecting to be standing still in Sol, mining, and getting hit somehow with an affliction.

Thanks for the constructive replies :)

Talking about logic - how can your ogygen "deplete" and turn into CO² if you are on a planet with atmosphere, not wearing a helmet?

There are game mechanics which dont make sense, but for the sake of the game its "game logic".

Oxygen is more understood like Stamina here... Let's say that it represents the O2 saturation in your blood ^^
Damn, I'm getting good at finding sketchy explanations for game mechanics.......

RPing it, suits are self-healing. They would have to be given the bullet damage. So, carrying that further, gas, say Chlorine, is corrosive. This is exactly how it's treated. And when you remove yourself from the gas, your suit heals itself.

Remember. The protection is not just the suit. The helmets and packs also have varying degrees of protection as I’ve just found out. My suit and pack were frost proof, but the helmet wasn’t. I got frostbite.

when was the last time you've been outside? Try to run ten minutes let me know how that works out for you. I'll make it easier for you, you can wear a helmet if you want

It does not make sense at all. You get your air from your backpack, not the environment. Lung damaga should be impossible. I like the game but that just makes no sense.

spent a while trying to figure why i was running out of oxygen while in a city with no suit on.

suppose they couldnt figure out how to separate space from land.
so did the bethesda thing and didnt bother.

It's not a measure of available external oxygen, it's a measure of your body recovering from oxygen usage. Essentially it's a replacement for the stamina bar in Skyrim and Fallout.

You forgot your backpack. I done the same.
