What can I do to increase performance?
I have a Ryzen 5 5600g, RTX 3060, and 16 gb of RAM so I am above the recommended spec, however the game runs like a slideshow :/ is there anything I can do to improve it WITHOUT resorting to mods? or am I just out of luck?

Yes, install on a (required) SSD.

there is nothing you can do. your system is to weak for it. when people with 4090 can barely run it

You don't know what you're talking about. You don't even own the game. I have a 4090 and I'm getting 100+fps on Ultra @ 4K, no FSR, almost everywhere.

This biggest boost is turning off in game Vsync. Enable it through Nvidia Profile Inspector instead. Some in game options are ass. The 3060 should be fine for the game. What kdodds sai, SSD minimum for install. No one should be trying mechanical HDD anymore for the newer games, unless its like indie games or pixel games.

i play on a 2060 RX, its not at like 4k or ultra but it works fine and is more than fun as a toy doesn't need to be hyper realistic.

its like 50/50 with new AAA games on how they deal with SSD vs HDD (usually as long as you're ok with some long load times the actual games run fine)... but yeah in the next so many years it will be more and more SSD required.

wait on optimizations via patches for starfield and Nvidia/AMD drivers. This game got a huge DAY 1 patch at the opening of the 5 day early access which is never a good sign to see a huge patch so soon before it goes live, lol

AMD updated drivers yesterday on their end. Expect Nvidia to follow suit in the coming days.

It's only 2nd official day of worldwide launch. Updates are gonna happen

Upgrade your PC.

It absolutely requires being installed on a fast SSD, due to the amount (and size) of data that is being streamed. Usually you can ignore this requirement if you have enough RAM. You cannot do this with Starfield, as it is constantly streaming.

You dont say what resolution and settings you're using so its hard to give you a specific answer. I have a RTX 4070 and Ryzen 7 5800X3D with 32GB of DDR4 3600 RAM. At 1440p the game defaults to the HIGH preset and I get a solid 60-90 fps. In New Atlantis I still get 60fps or more and I see 99% GPU utilization and 55% CPU so even in the cities its GPU bound first.

I always see 14gb RAM used and sometimes 16GB and Im running the game off a SSD so I would say stick to the default settings and run a lean PC when you play this. If you have too much running in the background you will use up that 16GB and see constant stuttering

Sorry I should have specified that I do have the game installed on an SSD

Guys.

You can download the DLSS Mod on Nexus Mods

Is it an internal SSD? Is it an old SSD or a modern nvme?

Your cpu is fine for the game even if it's a G series.
Your ram is low and you should upgrade it sooner rather than later but it should be fine for this game still unless it's super slow speeds.
Your GPU should be able to handle the game at medium settings maybe higher at 60fps.

also make sure you don't have power saving settings enabled anywhere and your laptop is set at max performance mode.

So I'm just dreaming the game runs fine on my RTX2080? Get an education, think for yourself and above all get a damned life.
