Having to download again after already preloading!!

Well this sucks! I've had this game pre-loaded and ready for WEEKS! And now that we are at release it's making me do it all over again. What was the point in even pre-loading and waiting all that time before just to now do it again when I'm trying to actually play!! Pre-release happened and there was no upgrade button so here we are on the global release and this happens. It'll be even longer now before I can play and I'm highly upset. Probably not even tonight which is why I'm so mad. Thanks.

Are you seeing a download, or unpacking? There's a difference, but Steam should tell you which is happening.

same, had to redownload the entirety of the game, even after preloading a couple days ago.

it doesnt download again, it unpacks.
If thats taking so long:

Install it on a SSD. SSD is REQUIRED not just recommended

A long install will otherwise be the least of your troubles.

it says at the bottom either unpacking or downloading. Mine says unpacking jumping between 25 minutes to 3 hours. Yall got ssd?

Just about every bug you may have heard of is caused by people installing it on old hard drives. Doesnt work. (Yes even the AI bugs out on a slowmo drive)

wow id like to see that. First time i here ssd is required for a game. Might transfer it to my hdd for fun.

mines is on ssd, and also it says unpacking but if i turn off internet it stops so i guess it's doing both? probably a day 1 patch that booty internet service ppl like me have to suffer on. tmobile got me with their bells and whistles but tomorrow spectrum arrives with my 1000mbps service then ill be the one laughing!

It is quiet literally downloading again. Installed it on an NVME M.2 SSD. Plus it saying Downloading is a pretty big give away. I know the difference between an unpack and download.

2nd time I am having to redownload this...preloaded....files were empty....downloaded again tonight....went to launch game and it validates then starts downloading the game again. I hate to refund, but steam is kinda ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ it so Im not downloading anymore, I have no issues waiting an hour for an unpack but downloading 86.6 GB to have it just disappear makes no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sense.

Took about an hour to unpack for me.
Probably updated all the patches released over the past week as well
and ....not to mention everyone was on the servers pulling at once so yeah.....
