You can steal landed ships

So... on a whim... i walked into a landed ship and took off. The 'citizen captain', 'citizen security' and the 'citizen engineer' didnt seem to care. in fact the 'citizen captain' just sat down in one of the two seats flanking the pilot seat and that was that. The game automatically transferred 'home ship' status to it along with all my cargo.

that pretty ckool no one is talking bout random encounters to busy crying, I saw a post were someone got stranded and had to kill/steal a crew and ship , that sound AWESOME

Yes, you can even steal the very first merchant NPC's ship on Kreesh and there are no consequences and AI doesn't react.

I chose the "Wanted" trait and got my first ship by stealing it from the bounty hunters who were trying to kill me

Sometimes you can't. I'm fairly sure it's the bounty hunter ships that won't let you sit in the pilot seat after you take out the crew, and sometimes the door to get inside a ship that lands as part of a mission is locked.

The doors that say "inaccessible" are actually inaccessible, but if you actually get into the ship and it won't let you sit in the pilot seat, it's because you lack the perk that lets you pilot class B and class C ships

Thats the one i was talking about. Any chance that is unintended behavior?

Has more than twice the storage as your starter ship. Cant fight worth a damn though.

I have disabled the engines on ships, docked with them, cleared the crew and stole the ship. Only downside is the registration fee.

WAs the ship worth it? Do they come after you in space or do they land and come after you on ground?

You can also get onto landed ship and accidentally get carried off into space. 😂

Not all of them. I noticed a massive ship on the landing pad at Akila and tried to board it, but couldn't go up the ladder. It was "inaccessible" due to being a local military ship of the Freestar Rangers.
