What do you guys do with the loot?
Leave most behind and take the good stuff? Or stock up on loot and sell to merchants?

Also, where is the best place to sell loot? The NPC's are out of money :D

sell it immediately until later in the game when you can start actually crafting things reasonably.

In the beginning I picked up everything, every little spoon or pen or cup. Now I just pick up the stuff that's worth at least like 100 bucks each (based on the amount displayed, not what it actually sells for). Usable items like food I always pick up.

I'm too stubborn so I refuse to leave any behind.

As a result im constantly overweight and also have to slowly walk back to the ship.
Then I just drop it all in my ship on the floor.

To partially remedy that the first upgrade I got for my ship was a couple of storage containers. Currently working on some outpost stuff so I can lessen my reliance on resources, which will free up more space.

No idea what the best place for selling is. I havent visited many places yet, but yeah merchant money does seem like a problem.

I only pick up stuff worth 100+ credits and dump what I need to from that as I hit my weight limit. I wish there were sort options like we had for the Pip Bot in FO4 to sort by weight, value etc. Or maybe I'm just not finding it.

I haven't figured out the reset timing on NPC merchants, it's at least 24 hours in-game time, I think. My go-to option is to buy things I always need like medpacks and ammo to offset selling to them.

You can sell things at the kiosks at the landing pads. You don't get full value for everything but you can still sell all the junk you've collected during a mission.

Yeah thats a problem with this game. And if i remember that correct they did this fault also in other games. Limited cash for vendors ... always bad idea. I am now stuck because I am unable to get enough money for another ship. Even if you would sell one you have stolen and your original one which wont work because you cant sell the home ship, you wouldnt even have halve the money what eh ship with the lowest price costs. The economy system in Starfield is very very broken. Also this thig with buy a weapon for 5k but if you found the same model you only get 250 for it... i mean... no words for that even if used items shouldnt cost what new ones cost 50% would be maybe ok. But because of that the vendors dont have money anyway it seems not to matter... ;)

You dont have to buy an entirely different ship. You can also upgrade your existing one piece by piece.

I went by fallout 4 rules initially, till i found out that i cant break stuff down...now the only things i grab is stuff with a tooltip. It feels so weird to leave space duct tape on the shelf.

Thank you for this useful information.

Selling loot in high quantities has been a pain for me so I increasingly just dump it. I honestly think most of my money has come from just picking up... money. Pirates squatting in old buildings are a renewable resource, go wild.

Mission boards provide some good cash too i guess.

I just need to make a base somewhere to offload items for storage

I was musing earlier that its starting to feel a bit like rimworld. Creating outpost areas for resource storage.

I dont know if youve started with bases yet, but you'll want to start with Aluminium/Helium/Copper/Tungsten since you need those resources for power/manufacture/storage buildings. Its probably best if you can find those resources in the same system.
