A soft lock in the story

So there is a mission that takes you to NEON after doing all the quest line it takes you back to your ship to talk to a NPC. after talking with the NPC it stays frozen on the dialogue your not able to get out of it.

I tried to load back to the part of the mission that you make a choice so when you talk at the end in the ship it grants different dialogue. That did not work either.

Has anyone else have this problem while doing the main quest line? if so how did you fix it if you did.

Once you exhausted the dialogue did you hold Tab to exit the conversation?

You'd probably have to solve it with command lines just like in Skyrim or have to wait until they patch it.

Im unable to do that. Any time I hit a button it makes the sound like I chose a dialogue line. but im unable to do anything. I havent had this bug with any other npc yet so that kidnda sucks.

Seems like I was able to get past it with a killall command. the single kill command wasnt working on the npc.

But now the whole story is glitching out from this point. I dont think they expected players to get this far in this short ammount of time. Here is to hoping day 1 patch fixes it.

getting past that one section also seems to of deleted a bunch of my save files so now i cant revert back to before NEON....

It also wont let me teleport or travel anywhere so im actually stuck on NEON lol

Im having this issue and NOTHING will solve it, guess we have to wait for day 1 patch cuz this is really annoying.

Nope i dont have any bounties i was just strait shooting the story. Ive also notice if you modify any ship the games gives you it tends to glitch the NPC so i made my own after doing pirate quest line and the UC because ♥♥♥♥ ton of money. and i will test and see if it is fixed tomorrow with the day 1 patch

well looks like looks like Bethesda got cold feet and forgot the day 1 patch... so when ever that comes ill re up this post and see if the soft lock story bug is gone.

As of 9/13/2023 They said they have fixed the bug. Im still having the same issue. it is not fixed

Is that on a new game? Or are you using the same saves that were present after you used the console command - because if the latter, then the game is borked and a patch won't fix it, as the data has been baked into the save and that cannot be changed.

But, if it is happening on a save from before you used any commands and before you started that quest/mission, then make another bug report to Bethesda. It's frustrating, but the only way to get them to fix these things is by reporting them:

To report a bug, there is this from Helpful Links and References, right at the very top:

TO REPORT ISSUES IN GAME TO BETHESDA, GO TO:
STARFIELD SUPPORT[help.bethesda.net]

On that page you will see a selection of 9 categories to choose from.

You are talking about Walter ? If yes then next location in this quest is lodge so maybe try to fast travel there or talk to him in Atlantis space port.

its from a save before hand as I could not play being stuck in his dialogue. if the command worked fully i would not be on this forum still and id be enjoying the story.
