Random freezing when playing
Is anyone else getting random freezing when playing? I'll be playing fine at anywhere from 40-60 FPS, but every 30 seconds to a few minutes my game will freeze for a few seconds. It's making it very difficult to play.

I've tried lowering my graphics settings, but it hasn't helped. Anyone else experience this and have any suggestions for how to fix it?

I just double-checked and mine is installed on my M2 drive, so that shouldn't be my issue. Never had this trouble with any other modern games either.

Auto-save maybe?

I don't think it's auto-save, unless that's happening every time I take 10 steps.. it does not seem to correlate to anything specific happening in the game.

I accidentally had it on my HDD and moved it to my SSD and now works fine .

I'm installed on ssd and still had this issue. 60 fps then random freezes. This solution worked for me from reddit:

"If you have bad stutters and or freezing on a good PC or any PC Download Battle Encoder Shirase Once it is downloaded open it up Click target, and find starfield.exe (game has to be open) Double click starfield.exe And drag the slider from -5% to -10% I have I at -8%

I hope that works for you guys please try if your having issues"

Any idea why BES wouldn't see the Starfield.exe on my PC?

This is the solution, I tried using it and played for 2 hours with no problem. I set starfield to -8%

Try running it as administrator

I went ahead and refunded, because I didn't feel like fighting with it anymore. Hopefully they'll patch the issue and I'll get it again at reg price.

Someone said the fix is to run it on an SSD as per the minimum requirements.

Make sure your system SSD has enough free space, you don't want to clog up SSD drive, it needs some space.

Keep Steam and Starfield on the same drive and run Steam in Admin mode.

For me that fixed stutter issues which are essentially loading/streaming slowdowns. This game is very heavy on content loading so it requires very fast storage.

I can confirm that Battle Encoder Shirase, and limiting 90% of the CPU to Starfield solved random freezing every 10 steps or 30 seconds in game. Hopefully will be patched out in the near future.

The game has lag even on PCIe 5.0 SSD
