Starfield feels closer to Firefly or Cowboy Bebop than either of those, but if I have to pick from the two options, it's a tough call. Star Trek ships are massive and it's usually less action oriented for the most part, while even though Star Wars has big ships, most of them ships are more reasonably sized and it is more action-oriented. But the thing with either is Star Trek is more exploration-oriented whereas I'm not seeing some of the crazy Star Wars tech for the most part. I dunno, maybe a grounded mix of both elements now that I think of it?

Similar in what sense? I don't think it's similar to Star Wars at all, Star Wars is it's own thing not comparable to anything else. I don't know about Star Trek, never watched it. From what I gathered so far it's probably more related to The Expanse as some others already pointed at here.

how massive are ships in star trek?

for reference a imperial class star destroyer is 1,600 m (5,200 ft) long, has a mass of 40 million tons and a crew of 46,785 people if you combine officers, regular crew and stormtroopers.

and although there were not many of those for example the executor class Star Dreadnought is about 19 kilometers long and had a crew of 279,144 people, in addition to 1,590 gunners and 38,000 troops.

Trying to find some decent size-comparison pics here, but it looks like the Galaxy-class and Sovereign-class from Star Trek are on par with a Victory-class Star Destroyer from Star Wars.

Both are definitely bigger than the Rebel Alliance Nebulon-B Escort Frigate

Star Trek is Exploration, Diplomacy and making friends and the dangers of the unknown, Star Wars is about Rebellion and revolution with Cow Boys in the Wild West of Space with Wizards included.

I´d go for that. Its its own brand in the end.

It may have the element of Star Trek, that is exploration and the element of Han Solo / Firefly too, like most sci-fi shows have some simularities. It also has mass effect since it will have dialogue choices, which is rare for Trek or Star Wars games. And some expance elements as its about ressources and profit.

And i love that it incooperates many different elements. Decided to preorder after reviewers said they have found no bugs in 15 hours.
