Largely depends on what you mean by "beat". You really don't "beat" a BGS RPG. You play a character to the point that you're satisfied you've completed that character's progress. Then you start another. And another. And another.
by beat i basically mean finishing the main quest and reach the credits
Finish the main quest? 30-40 hours according to Todd. Reach the credits? I don't think you will ever see them. The game doesn't really have an 'end'.

I believe they said somewhere that the main story might take around 30-40 hours to beat.
About 150 hours.
Let's see you speedrun it in 11 minutes :D

I'll do it in 10. Have fast Ssd. Install - remove. E voila!
if you are just focusing on the main story it will probably take 10-30 hours to beat, but knowing bethesda games it will take hundreds to do everything

As long as i like to be. I bet i wander around just as i did with Fallout games or Skyrim complete forgetting the main story and doing little side quests or building outposts and take my time exploring the galaxy before i even think of ending the main story.
Bethesda games have a main quest?
As with Skyrim, or Fallout 4, it will take me forever. I mess around so much.

I'll spend so much time just stealing Sandwiches! ;)

Sadly it's usually the weakest part of the game. 😁
30-40 Hours if you focus on the main story. And probably 80-100 if you do all sidequests and with sandboxing and mods later on it goes up to infinite hours.
I think that getting all the Starfield achievements will be a daunting task and that it will greatly increase the hours of play, I calculate about 400 hours and with the dlc they release and the mods you can easily double that number.
If you just focus on the main quest around 40 hours. That would be pretty much ignoring building ships, bypassing surveying regions, ignoring side quests.

I would guess 80 easy if you focus on pretty much anything else that interests you.

If you played fallout or Skyrim you should be able to get that time plus much more.

Because the lady in the bathesda deep dive video talked about how she goes wild but also steals everyone’s sandwiches. Hopefully only in game and not at work. But she was kind of on the edge.
