I do think it should still be faster than a hard drive, so I would not entirely rule it out.
Google is your friend.

I think most ppl use "Crystaldiskmark".
A polite question followed by informative answers …
There’s hope for this forum yet …
A good internal 500gb SATA SSD should cost no more than maybe $30-$40, so you'd be much better off just picking up one of those before launch...
I just tried that out with my Samsung 990 Pro 2 TB with Heatsink.
It spat out this:
Disk Sequential 64.0 Read 6007.09 MB/s 9.8
Disk Sequential 64.0 Write 6687.41 MB/s 9.9
Disk Random 16.0 Read 2152.20 MB/s 9.3
Disk Random 16.0 Write 218.61 MB/s
This isn't right, it should be 7419 MB/s read, 6920 MB/s write. And the other 2 values are completly different it's measured differently.
I'm assuming that's the drive's maximum rated values... Those values are not gauranteed... *shrug*
I'd say it's probably performing fine, personally...
Run a few more and see what it averages out at, maybe...
I tried it a few times it didn't change much, using these command prompt commands.
There is a reason ppl use third party software.
Yeah, I can't remember the one I used to use... Lost it when my SSD died...
I guess it's possible that the read is being affected by general activity on your PC at the moment or something, which is not impacting the write performance, perhaps?
There must be a reason other benchmarks are longer, that is to rule out system activity.
