Right now I am playing an alpha game called ostranauts, made by group/guy that did neo scavenger.

I won't like its rough and buggy and has learning curve but a few recent YT vids of some folks playing to give you idea.

I am enjoying going out and scavenging wrecks, selling off parts to make cash and expanding my ship. Has AI crew but they can be a bit dumb.

Star Citizen will get you ready for the amount of bugs that will probably be in the game at launch

Play Call of Duty. Hone your FPS skills to be prepared to fight the Freestar Collective in Starfield

This. Probably the closest thing to playing Starfield before it comes out. Just got off playing and am 23 hours in. Great freaking game.

Something not a space game so you don't burn out. Maybe Elden Ring or Frostpunk?

Or check out a little gem called 'distance'? I love the game, despite not being into "racing" games (its not exactly a racing game though). Its honestly has a great amount of content in it with the sprint maps.

No man's Sky, or Mass Effect Legendary, for the space RPG elements.

Outer Wilds maybe? Story heavy with little combat but it has the fun space stuff.
