About that NASA-punk
I am considering to buy Starfield someday, but what bothers me is the visual style of the game - the NASA-punk thing. I mean, every big modern game about space has its own unique style. For example, The Outer Worlds has its retro-futuristic aesthetic - something that the Fallout series has. No Man's Sky looks like the cover of an 80s sci-fi book. Something to gaze at even if the game itself is not perfect.

But in Starfield all these NASA-punk arts and visuals including character's design are just... okay? A little bland. Like a cereal without any particular taste.

So I really hope the devs just didn't show us much of the game, which might look exciting. Does anyone feel the same?

Hope you're having a great day.

I like the NASA-punk style that they are going with. It gives more of a connection to our current timeline.
But I also like plain cereal.

Besides, there will more than likely be Mods that will change that if you so desire.

There exists no visual style that won't prompt someone looking at it to say it's not that impressive.

If you are expecting a significant amount of drastically different design styles and appearances, your reaction will be certainly self-inflicted.

its realistic futureristic. not fantasy futureristic. and i dig it more. bland is exactly how it should be. not over the top.

Not really, the different factions also have unique looks ranging from the old west to super futeristic. Watch the deep dive. There's a lot more than just the NASA-Punk style.
I ratger like the look, indeed I'd prefer a hard scifi game over this so I'm fine with it.

they'll never be able to appeal to all people all the time unfortunately.

No. And to follow your cereal analogy... All cereal has a flavor. It's a matter of whether or not you appreciate that flavor. Take oatmeal. Plain oatmeal has a flavor, but it get covered up in sugars and spices and fruits by most people. While others appreciate the more subtle flavor of plain porridge. I like the look.

Agree. I like the NASA-punk style. I also prefer shredded wheat.
Crunchynut Cornflakes, me.

Buckwheat with stewed beef anyone?

I like the looks of this game. I think Starfields snapfit modular ship design works best with this kind of grounded sci-fi style they're going for.
Also, Freestar ships look noticeably different, having more rugged look, just as their capital - Akila city.
Maybe there will be other unique faction designs, so we will get our fill of Nostromos, Sereneties and Unreliables.

The thing that virtually everyone else likes and finds notable bothers you. That's sad. I like Kellogg's Raisin Bran. Though if someone else is making breakfast, I'd always go for a big bowl of Quaker Oatmeal with honey.

They said in the direct that each vendor brings their own style, so I'm sure they put something in there for folks that want a more futuristic look. Modders will fill in the gaps.
