Easter eggs
What easter eggs or references do you think will be in the game or are hoping to see? What space movies do you think they will make reference to? I'll be on the lookout for an Interstellar and 2001 A Space Odyssey reference for sure.

If there isn't a Diner at the edge of the explorable galaxy I'll be so sad

Some companion needs to say, "I think I should change". When you try to bring them with you while they're wearing a red shirt. Also, reference something about president of the galaxy and "why are you looking at me like I have two heads?" Those kinds of things. But I'm not expecting many, if any, of them because too much takes away from the game and it becomes a parody of itself.

Aliens the movie.

I honestly want someone to have a career change due to a knee injury.
A boobytrapped sandwich meant for a notorious sandwich stealer.
Some companion mentioning something about enviromental storytelling skeletons.

You are assigned to be the sheriff at a mining facility on the moon of a gas giant, the work is hard but the pay is good. One day, someone enters the elevator without his suit, and dies from decompression...

Well Interstellar doesn't seem likely as it's pretty much not proper space fantasy, and it's bad science fiction given that it's basis was written by people who don't understand the science it was trying to base itself on. It's actually responsible for a lot of morons thinking some kind of time dilation would be involved in space travel because of the old point that "to travel faster than light you'd have to be travelling through time" coming largely from Einstein. The point being that matter simply cannot do it, not that it's possible to accelerate matter (like a space ship) faster than light and have it move through time. To do something like that even hypothetically you'd have to convert that matter into energy, and then somehow have it converted back, and that's unlikely in this case to say the least beyond no such type of energy existing. In short even the principle doesn't resemble that movie, and when you try and get clever with the idea you wind up with things like "Lightyear" and we see what happened with that.

At any rate, I am suspecting from what I've heard that "Starfield" will include a lot of nods and references to second and third tier sci-fi properties from the 1990s and very early 2000s, and most "kids" (those not part of Gen X) will have no chance of recognizing most of these things when they encounter them by design, and even in that group you'd have to be one of the really hardcore geeks that followed everything to even have a chance of catching anything, a sort of nod to a "fringe elite" that will lead to a lot of "if you know, you know" stuff and certain people getting jokes that don't seem to be jokes to anyone who might not know one or more obscure sci-fi IPS.

I mean I could be wrong about that, but that's what I'm guessing, if this is even going to be a thing. A lot of what I'm hearing is that Starfield is trying to take itself more seriously than say "Elder Scrolls" which has gags based on game logic like there being a "Dragon Break" that disrupts time so all endings of Daggerfall are canon at the same time, and stuff like that, beyond utterly surrealist nonsense like the "Notched Pickaxe".

One thing to understand about proper "Easter Eggs" is that they aren't funny if everyone can get them.

The 10th Planet gets a shout out in one of the patches. The 10th Planet is Bethesda's first attempt at a space RPG (which was never released.)
There is a Marley and Me movie reference, I think it's "Melvin and Me" and is about an Ashta or whatever they're called lol
