A year away and NO game-play?! Same engine!
NO ONE SHOULD PRE-ORDER THIS! Im not saying this is going to be bad but who in there right mind would pre-order a Bethesda game? Its the same lousy engine? Ya ya - its been modified like fallout 76 haha. This isn't a do not buy thread but wait - let them sweat a little. If the game turns out great ill buy it but knowing there tract record - the fact that its a year away with no game play and that its using the same modified engine should be way more than enough to not pre-order!

Wow - i put up and forgot about it haha. Looks like its got people talking and that's great. I have 0 cares about this game because of the last few games especially Fallout 76 - you know with the modified engine that looked worse than Fallout 4 haha. Heck i hope the game is great - id love to support them and sincerely hope they have learned from there past mistakes - but i doubt it haha. Keep the flaming going

what is the point of opening a thread which is literally the same topic you could find just right on the 1st page of the forum threads in the 1st 3rd-4th row?

Because it has to be said over and over again - Thats the point - and your right there are many threads like this and i couldn't be happier. Its now become a common thread and i hope Bethesda is watching. I hope to see many threads like this pop up over the next year. The practice of pre-ordering and then getting a broken game which they fix after going live has to stop. This post will get buried quickly and 5 more will pop up to take its place.

You can't even preorder this anyway, I don't get this complaint.
Pre ordering in general? Yes, stop that.
But what does this have to do with this game, especially with this game not having gameplay footage?

If you consider Morrowind and Skyrim having the same engine then sure technically - but its a very narrow minded way of looking at it... The engine has had a major update for Starfield so take that as you will...

when the op post is the answer to the post itself
I think it's great that it runs on Creation engine.

It's likely most moddable engine used by AAA studios.
If you look at Nexus you can see that most mods are in Creation engine games Oblivion, Skyrim, Fallout 3-4 and New Vegas.

In most other games modding anything other than simple texture swaps is pain in the ass and even texture swaps can be.

Like the trailer stated. Creation engine 2.0. Not the same.

Skyrim's announcement trailer wasn't until 10 months before Skyrim's release.

Fallout 4's announcement trailer wasn't until 5 months before Fallout 4's release.

Bethesda have traditionally made a point of not showing or talking about their games until they're very close to releasing. Todd Howard has said in interview that it's intentional, so that when it comes out it's like a big surprise.

It's actually unusual that we've gotten as much information about Starfield as we have at this point. I think that Microsoft might've had something to do with Bethesda both delaying the game for a year, and also with some of the information drops we've had for the game so far.

We'll see, but I truly hope it's different. Would be nice if some Microsoft engineers helped to optimize and tinker around with the engine.

It's still largely the same. Bethesda said they've given the engine its biggest overhaul since Oblivion. So, there's still a lot to it that's carrying over from the previous version.

That said, it's good to hear that it has gotten a large overhaul.

I'll be pre-ordering. Because I know I'll be buying the game anyway. Pre-ordering doesn't change how the game will launch.

A person who thinks no one in their right mind should preorder a Bethesda game should tell us which non-Beth-games he personally preordered if any, and why it was a sound decision.
Affronter Dec 12, 2021 @ 3:30pm
I'll only preorder if there's actual incentive to preorder.
Haruspex Dec 12, 2021 @ 6:43pm
Yes, we know. You're preaching to the choir.

No, the vast majority of people who will buy this game can't hear you, and even if they could they don't care.

I won't preorder. You won't preorder. Millions of others will, and there's nothing you or I can do about it.
