Is anyone else getting double input registrations with controller?
I have a brand spanking new xbox controller hooked up to my pc, so I know there's nothing wrong with it (and this issue doesn't happen for any other game).

Every now and then, the game will register my controller as inputting my button press twice in immediate succession. Most of the time this isn't a problem but it can get pretty bad for something like battle or fusing personas. Am I the only one? Idk if it's a framerate thing or what, but I'm obviously not accidentally pressing the button twice with absolutely inhuman speed.

sounds like some weirdness with the controller api, first thing I would try is disabling steam controller hilinx for this game and just see what happens,

I can't really help as I use a dualsense tho

Have you tried updating your controller's firmware? I had some weird issues with mine some months ago and updating it fixed them.

im using an xbox controller too, but not experiencing the issues you stated. My controller has been used now and then for 2 years, so Im not sure where this issue is coming from. Maybe check steam controller settings and check if you have xbox controller support enabled, or unplug and replug the wire hooked up to your pc

I've been getting this lately too, I don't suppose you found a fix?

I'm not experiencing this issue, but I did with another game (Final Fantasy 9), and in the case of that game, it was a weird bug with how the game recognized the controller or something, and the workaround was to only plug in the controller once I was already in-game (that is, after loading my save and gaining control of the character). Maybe try that with P5 too?

Other than that, you can update your controller's firmware with an app on the Microsoft Store (I believe it's called XBox Accessories or something). I faced a weird bluetooth conection issue with mine sometime ago and updating the firmware fixed it.

Tried your suggestion and it seems to do the trick. Hope it stays like this. Thanks !

Has this persisted since you updated? I also noticed that my controller seems to have double input. In particular when I'm pressing A to move the dialogue forward, and I'd skip a dialogue. Thankfully, I noticed it because the next dialogue was a dialogue choice and the voiced character did not read the dialogue prior.

Lastly, this seems to affect other games now that I've been trying other games on my controller.

Use HidHide.

This is because those games poll multiple input APIs at the same time.

Xbox controllers (or controllers emulating them using Steam Input, DS4Windows, etc.) will show up in all input APIs on Windows. PlayStation controllers only show up in HID and DirectInput without third-party software, games pretty much never register PlayStation input twice unless you're using additional mapping software.

If you use Special K, I have various options to hide devices for different input APIs.

[Input.XInput] HideAllDevices=true

That one's very helpful when you have DS4Windows running and don't want to create exclusions or separate app profiles.

Nope. Your problem seems to be physical, though. XBox controllers in general always had this weird problem with the A button where it either double clicks or fails to register depending on the way you press it (like if you're pushing it a certain direction or something like that). Happened with every single XBox controller I've used, even brand new ones. I think it gets worse if there's dirt on the contacts, so cleaning it with a little isopropyl alcohol could remedy the problem a bit.

It has persisted, I encountered that issue about once or twice per 10 hours. I basically ignored it since Persona comes with a Log button. I don't think the problem is physical : my Series X controller is new and this didn't happen on games I played since then.

Thanks for your explanations ! Based on your knowledge, what solution and/or software would you recommend for someone who has this issue on an Xbox Series X controller ?
