A solution to fix pause when window loses focus on alt tab

You know why you need this if you found this post. The solution requires downloading of a 3rd party tool. Do your own research on any software you download and decide if you accept the risk. It use to be on steam but was delisted for reasons that do not seem to be security related.

Once you launch the game through special K, a menu in game will prompt you to the special K menu. Alt +shift + back space. A window appears, then go to Windows Management > Input/output Behavior > Background Behavior > and check continue Rendering.

Note: I tested this using game pass version. I hope this helps someone :)

You could also try '/RequireFocusToUpdate=false' on the steam version launch options. However, I cannot test this since I do not have the steam version.

Thank you for testing the alternative method and confirming it did not work.

Just a general update after 2 hours of gameplay using Special K has been working flawlessly. I am disappointed at the lack of in-game option to change it though.

Special K does need to run in the background as it is actively injecting something into the game.

This feature is also included in the Reloaded 2 mod loader alongside the P5R Essentials mod, so if you are already modding the game then no need for special K.
Open up reloaded 2 and click the P5R Essentials mod, then configure mode, and turn on the option to render in background.

Nah. It's already done the job, and you can exit it.

I really wouldn't though. Not because it will harm anything, just because we've optimized the hell out of SKIF so it doesn't use any resources and all that exiting it accomplishes is making relaunching the game or whatever slightly less convenient :)
