Official Steam Deck Dock not connecting to Samsung TV HDMI
Got the official dock yesterday, it charges correctly but I’m not getting any HDMI signal going to the monitor. The Steam Deck’s screen is still on, not black, but it’s not sending a signal to the TV. The HDMI imput on the TV shows it’s not powered on. I tried switching HDMI cables and switching HDMI inputs on the TV. Still no signal

There is an issue with the EDID table and a lot of tv's will not work unless a edid adapter is used.

This also seems related to my issue of the HDMI turning on automatically when im watching tv. I believe these two issues are related, and even after contacting steam support about this, they also believe these issues are related.

Can this be fixed with a firmware update?

I thought it was just my Samsung TV been awkward.

Every time I have to go into TV settings (after plugging in my Steamdeck to my dock) and toggle the Input Signal Plus either turn it on or off. Either way that gives the TV a nudge to except the signal.

In the boat. :steamsad: (seems like it will connect with the power unplugged?)

Hi all,
same issue here.
I am using a Samsung U28E590 monitor. I am trying to get this sorted since more than week but no progress at all. I am also in a conversation with Stream support. They are quite patient and trying to be helpful but after reading this thread today, I am now convinced that this is probably a hopeless situation and I should better go towards the refund route...

I have the same issue. Samsung QN90B (2022 model). the official dock connects and works 'fine', I can get a 4K 60 resolution option, until I switch the TV to Game Mode. Then the dock almost locks up, it no longer charges the Deck, the Deck no longer sees the TV, etc. It's really annoying. I hope there is a fix soon.

Hello all,

after some extensive troubleshooting, together with the steam support team, nothing was able to fix the issue and they have replaced my dock under warranty. At a certain moment they wanted me to re-image the deck, but that was a bridge too far for me, an original peace of equipment of 99€ should work out of the box, and I was willing to do some troubleshooting but not a complete re-image. I told them that this was a bit idiotic, as a chinese dock of 40€ just works, and theirs does not.
So I sent it to them for a warranty replacement and got a new one within a week or so. And (like some already reported here) this fixed all issues, I apperently just had a bad unit.
Plugged the new dock in, and immediately everything worked like it's supposed to. Then I got a message for a dock firmware upgrade, was kinda doubting to do that as it might trigger the issue again. But if the firmware upgrade would have made the issue return again, I would at least have some extra info for steam support with a actual cause of the issue.
Fortunately everything just worked after the firmware update, so now I can finally enjoy my setup like intended without always having to unplug and replug the power. Hope this helps some of you guys!

Currently if you dont want to refund/return and still use the official steamdeck dock, then you'll need a EDID hdmi pass-through adapter to work without any issues. It seems the EDID table is incomplete in the OS/deck or dock.

Motofreak, what brand of EDID pass-through adapter did you buy?

This is disappointing considering the price of the dock. It's also a bit surprising that there hasn't been any reaction from Steam in this thread (that I've noticed). My dock is effectively useless for the moment because a table needs to be updated? And the only solution available is to buy more hardware as a work-around? Wow.
That is a REALLY weird thing to not have implemented in an official, and also expensive, dock, when third party docks seem to work fine without issue. Thanks, Valve!

I thought that 3rd party docks might not have issues with a Samsung TV, so I bought a 3rd party dock.

I also thought I would be immune to the issue entirely since I have a 720p set and not a 4k one. 1366x768@59Hz

I get flickering (black screen with brief picture) if I get anything on my Warrky dock with an HDMI 2.0 port, connected via the cheapest HDMI 1.0 cable I could find about a decade ago ($3 USD).

Mostly it seems to happen when I connect an 8bitdo PlayStation Classic adapter, which causes the display output to freak out. Otherwise, if I struggle long enough I can manually set what seems to be a stable 1080p output for the 720p to downscale if nothing else is connected. Only using the dock for HDMI defeats the purpose of the dock though.

JSaux dock here, zero issues, granted, I shouldn't have to resort to third party docks when the official dock costs 90 dollars. I contacted Steam support, tried numerous steps to fix the issue, even going so far as to reinstall Steam OS, nada. Which sucks because I want to use the official dock because it gives me peace of mind. The official dock can't let me use my Q90B's Game Mode because the second I do, it switches back to the Steam Deck screen. I can reproduce this every time, and apparently I need an HDMI EDID adapter to trick it into working which is really annoying.
