Steam Deck Beta Client Update: December 16th

We have just shipped an updated Steam Deck Client to the Preview/Beta channel.

General

On the Bluetooth settings screen, we will now detect and notify the player when trying to pair/connect an Xbox controller with older firmware versions that cannot properly connect to Steam Deck. To fix these issues you must connect the controller to a Windows PC and update the firmware via the Xbox Accessories App.

Accessibility

Moved the Screen Reader's "Stop Talking" button to X so that external gamepads can still open the Quick Access Menu with Guide button + their equivalent of A button

Friends & Chat

Suspicious or harassing group chat messages can be reported directly in the chat window by selecting the message and pressing 'Options'. You can optionally block and/or unfriend the other user while submitting the report.

Remote Play

Fixed being unable to move the mouse to another monitor when using touch controls on the Steam Link app.

Because my computer is very old, I bought a Steam Deck to play games like Hogwarts Legacy, Horizon Forbidden West, and Avatar, relying on Steam for that purpose. Apex Legends was among the games I couldn't play, but was sure I could. Not being able to play a game that's even playable on Nintendo Switch on Steam's own console is really disappointing. I want a solution to this as soon as possible. I'm very happy with the device, but not being able to play the game I've spent the most hours on is truly frustr...

Fixed news items not updating in the "What's New" tab on the Home screen

Fix a case where configurations edits/changes to selected configurations would fail to save
Fix some cases where configuration files could show as blank when opening them
Fix PlayStation controller LED colors sometimes failing to update in the personalization menu
Fixed Gyro to Joystick Deflection: Lock Extents not working as intended.
Fixed Gyro to Joystick Deflection: Some combinations of "Relative Roll" and "Relative Pitch" toggles resulted in zero joystick output.
Gyro to Joystick Deflection: "Relative Roll" and "Relative Pitch" toggles are only available if a Gyro Activation Button is selected, because the angles are relative to the pose of the controller each time the Gyro is activated.

Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain

So I found and bought the original Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain on GoG. I also own the game at home. I found it near impossible to install my CD version of the game onto the deck. I found rather simple instructions on how to put the game onto the Deck. I have it on the deck and I am glad to say that the game runs perfectly. It doesn't even look like a Windows 95 game on the deck. But... The key mapping for the game is not working. Does anyone know how I can map out the keys for this game onto the Steam Dec...

Xbox Cloud - Controller Not Detected

I followed Microsoft's support guide but am met with a message when booting a game through Xbox Cloud that my controller is not detected. Any idea what the issue could be?

battery issue

the steamdeck instantly dies when unplugged and showed no signs of battery degration lasting almost as it did as it was new before the issue tried battery storage mode, reseating battery cable, - ... power, and it shows as 100% when plugged in and it has the same behavior in bios and even in gamescope/gamingmode but the instant i unplug it it just blips out...
