Cannot purchase anything on Deck
Any time I go to buy something on Deck, when I get to the final screen and hit the buy button it changes to "Working" and then does nothing.

I have 2FA on if that detail helps.

I had the same issue. Paypal doesnt work (I´m guessing, because it would need to open another window)
I then added my credit card to steam on my PC and noticed that after "working" it also opens a new window for a second and closes it again. I´m guessing maybe some kind of varification happening?
Looks like, anytime a new window is needed to do something, the deck ui cant handle it, so you get "stuck"

I already made a successful purchase on the Steam Store through Steam Deck via Paypal. It opened the window to re-authorize that purchase method by re-logging to my Paypal account and I had to confirm 2FA on the Paypal App. Then I was able to purchase. Maybe you tried too many times and got locked out, this happened to me a few times on the PC Client before when a payment couldnt be processed. Try again after a few hours maybe :)

This was not a case of trying too many times. It happens any time, even a first time.

have the same issue with my credit card which requires a pop-up window due to safety checks. The popup does not work so purchases are impossible

Ah yeah, that's it exactly.

Same problem here with a new Credit Card, Paypal and iDeal. I guess all the payment flows break because it is suppose to open a new window for login, scan or verification.

A credit card that I used before worked fine, but that one was already authorized before.

I had this problem too. I think the problem may be that the device is automatically blocking popup tabs related to bank accounts. For example if I want to buy something online using my bank card, my purchase would have to go through a validation process, sometimes part of this process involves a new tab opening up to allow the validation process to happen. (I also think it depends on the bank if they even require a popup to buy stuff, so it’s possible that depending on the bank you are with, it may or may not have the popup validation feature). However I have noticed that depending on the device, this popup tab may be automatically blocked from popping up which prevents the validation from working. I have tried to buying things over steam in the past such as the steam deck itself using my phone and I kept getting the unexpected error message. I eventually used my pc to buy the steam deck and unlike my phone, the pc asked me if I wanted this popup window to be displayed. I clicked yes and the validation window allowed me to buy the steam deck. After I noticed it was a popup I realized that my device was probably just blocking the popup. (Which I could disable is settings).

I tried buying something on the steam store using the steam deck as well and I got the unexpected error message. I think the reason for this is because the steam store in the deck doesn’t provide the option to allow the popup window. If I remember correctly I had to open the steam deck in desktop mode and go to the steam store from there. I don’t remember if I used the browser or the steam app to access the store, but which ever process I used I was able to go through the validation process, because in this mode you have the option to allow tabs to popup. Since then I haven’t tried buying anything on steam at all, so it’s possible that after allowing the popup tab the first time, will allow me to buy things from the steam deck store. However I didn’t test this as like I said I haven’t bought anything since.

As of the latest update, it still doesn't work right.

It brings up a new page, which tells me "something went wrong". Would screenshot but don't want to accidentally give away any of my deets.

A second attempt did make it go through but seems we're not quite there yet.

For me the iDEAL transaction worked directly with the latest update

Same issue here. Clicking on PayPal button gives me a black window, when I press B to go back I see the PayPal login popup, but the Steam shop already switched to 'Purchase cancelled' in the background.
