I then added my credit card to steam on my PC and noticed that after "working" it also opens a new window for a second and closes it again. I´m guessing maybe some kind of varification happening?
Looks like, anytime a new window is needed to do something, the deck ui cant handle it, so you get "stuck"
I already made a successful purchase on the Steam Store through Steam Deck via Paypal. It opened the window to re-authorize that purchase method by re-logging to my Paypal account and I had to confirm 2FA on the Paypal App. Then I was able to purchase. Maybe you tried too many times and got locked out, this happened to me a few times on the PC Client before when a payment couldnt be processed. Try again after a few hours maybe :)
same problem here with my credit card, paypal worked
A credit card that I used before worked fine, but that one was already authorized before.
I tried buying something on the steam store using the steam deck as well and I got the unexpected error message. I think the reason for this is because the steam store in the deck doesn’t provide the option to allow the popup window. If I remember correctly I had to open the steam deck in desktop mode and go to the steam store from there. I don’t remember if I used the browser or the steam app to access the store, but which ever process I used I was able to go through the validation process, because in this mode you have the option to allow tabs to popup. Since then I haven’t tried buying anything on steam at all, so it’s possible that after allowing the popup tab the first time, will allow me to buy things from the steam deck store. However I didn’t test this as like I said I haven’t bought anything since.
It brings up a new page, which tells me "something went wrong". Would screenshot but don't want to accidentally give away any of my deets.
A second attempt did make it go through but seems we're not quite there yet.
