Help installing .AppImage file?
I’m trying to install the curseforge app for Linux, but when I try to run the file (whether the run as executable box in properties is checked or not), it fails!
“It keeps giving me the error “cannot mount AppImage, please check your FUSE setup.
Etc…”
I went to the link, but it’s talking about installing files that could break the system, I figured I’d ask if there’s an easier way before I look into doing all that tomorrow…

Also the app trying to execute it was called “plasma” instead of dolphin like normal .appimage files, if that means anything…

And before anyone asks, once again, I tried changing the “run as executable” in properties, it did nothing…

You don't install appimages, and you don't run them with something else. You just double-click them and they run themselves. I suspect your issue is because you've tried to run your appimage with something else and so you've messed up your MIME settings for that file type. I just downloaded curseforge on my Deck to test, and it fired right up.

I didn’t change anything the first time I tried. That’s why I started trying to run it as an executable. The first time I downloaded it the first thing I did is double click it… it did the same thing it does now, as if you want to execute the program… and then it fails. It’s a standalone so I thought maybe it’s an installer?
My steamdeck is still very new and I only just started using desktop mode, all I have installed are a few apps like chrome…

So… how do I fix my MIME settings?

Thank you for the help, but it seems the reason I was having problems may have been… that the main storage drive had filled up? This also caused me to be unable to launch any game (online or offline). Seems the steamdeck has problems functioning when dealing with a full drive or lots of big games being downloaded.
Magically after deleting 1GB of emulators I never used from emudeck, all .appimage worked correctly again, including installers.

Interesting. Well, glad to hear you're up and running again.
