What's best way to lay in bed and play Steam Deck?
How do you do it?

With headphones, so I don't disturb my partner.

With earbuds, comfortable pillow, and I use another pillow to adjust height of the deck.

I bought some kind of small yoga mat that I cut and glued the other way to make it 20x40cm. its rigid enough so I can put it on my thighs and the deck on it. Works wonderfully for me.

This would be a step up.
Search Cushioned LapTray or Bean Bag Cushion Lap Tray 44 x 34 cm (17" x 13")
https://www.amazon.com/Creative-Cushioned-Cushion-Marble-Design/dp/B07MVYR7Q8
There's also a smaller kids laptray 35 x 29cm {$15}
The base is a beanbag so can be set at various pitches, sits on uneven surface, the side frame stops Deck from sliding of. as hard flat surface allows air flow. You can use a desktop mousepad to stop deck sliding (which I did for a while but no real need) It very comfortable, have been using since I got the Deck as leaving Deck on a bedding would block the fan.
There are also cushion lap desks or breakfast trays, but they dont have the frame, so deck would slide off. There are different design/images like scenic painting, dog, cat, the marble works for me. I'm linking amazon as example, got mine in an ALDI store.

Whatever you do, don't fall asleep with the deck in your hands :D
