Steam Deck

Steam Deck

Does the Steamdeck (or the Dock) support vibration on xbox controller?
As the SteamLink App does not support vibration because of android limitation I wonder if the Steam Deck supports the vibration of xbox controllers.

Also:
If you use RemotePlay with the SteamDeck what is the maximum resolution and framerate you can ouput via the dock to your TV?
Thinking about upgrading from a Steamlink to a Steam Deck with Dock.

Android limitations stem from the driver. As for support, the 5.13 in SteamOS supports the xbox controllers for 360 and One, Series S/X should work, but may lack Bluetooth connectivity and/or rumble. The Dock has nothing to do with the controller, other than providing USB connectivity.

Just finished testing with my Xbox Series controller. Rumble does work, but bizarrely only via bluetooth (which is especially funny because MS says that rumble doesn't work over bluetooth). Plugging the controller in directly it would rumble upon connection, but that's all. There was no rumble in game until I disconnected the cable and paired it over bluetooth.
Can't say if it'll work with the dongle if that's how you connect, or if it'll work with the dock. I imagine it'd still work with the dock though, as long as you still use bluetooth.

My series X elite controller rumble seems to rumble on longer than it should on the deck's games via BT, it works fine for an hour before it starts to happen. So i've just turned it off, it saves replacing the rechargeable batteries more often anyway.
It works fine on the Xbox though and yeah i've updated it through the MS app.

I suspect that's an issue with connecting it over bluetooth in general with Xbox controllers. The same thing happens with my regular Series controller on PC. The Xbox itself doesn't use bluetooth to connect, and I suspect that it's a bit better. At least for controllers.

Hmm okay cheers for the heads up, ive had the xbox a few months after a long break from them so im out of the loop. I tend to play without the rumble anyway, it was on by default with the deck so i just left it until this started happening. Not really a big loss personally. Next time its docked il re-pair the controller just to see if it works properly again, for science. If not, cabled it is.
