How do you stream games on discord?

Friend of mine has a steam deck and whenever he streams on discord with it either its a black screen with just cursor visible or we get the screen to stream but no audio comes to me. Any suggestions?

I had all the same problems until I switched to vesktop. Had not problems since. Discord just doesn't seem to work right on Linux.

Discord only got Wayland support until recently, and even that is sketchy, to say the least. Wayland and X11 are the backend technologies that allow Unix like operating systems to display graphics. Wayland is native to Linux, while X11 had been the only way to perform such task on Unix for the past 40 years. Most apps run in Gaming mode are still using X11 (i e, not native Wayland apps) , and hence this may yield mixed results.

Forgot to add, that since the Desktop session on the SteamDeck is X11, and discord fully supports screen capture on X11, hence it fully works on Desktop mode, where there is no mixed Wayland/X11 apps
