PCSX2 on Deck - FPS drops to 10fps
Hi, I wanted to emulate PS2 on my new Deck, but a lot of games drops to 10fps once gameplay starts. Please noted I made sure that frame limiter is off. Tried installing via emudeck and from official website. Tried numerous emulation settings (vulkan, opengl, native resolution,...), turning off SMT via PowerTools, tried memory swap, numerous bioses, roms and so on.
There is no difference if playing via steam os, or desktop mode. I tried Basically everything possible that I have read on internet discussion. Yet still exact same outcome. Please someone, do you have any suggestions? I am starting to be really desperate.
Thanks

Can't say I've had any problems with PCSX2. I'm using the Flatpak available on Discover. I haven't messed with the emulation settings beyond game-specific stuff (blending accuracy, etc) so I'm playing at native PS2 res and MTVU. I know PS2 emulation is somewhat game dependent. What are some of the games you've tried running?
The only game I had slowdown was Dirge of Cerberus but there's a couple settings to change so it hits consistent 60fps. Google name of the game pcsx2 steam deck slowdown and see if you find anything.
Give me a list of the games that drop frames. Also, are you currently using the emudeck installation? if not, I would wipe other installations of the emulator and stick with emudeck. There's a lot of kind volunteers working hard to make this process somewhat seamless.

In my experience, some games won't run well no matter what you do, simply because the games are poorly optimized and the deck isn't a miracle worker. We are still dealing with a heavy translation layer because ps2 code is so different. Further, a lot of developers of the time would push the console farther than it could go on purpose because the OG console slowdowns were an appealing way to convey size or power. The one that sticks out to me the most is Gungrave. The coffin missiles made everything slow down to a crawl and distorted the audio heavily, which definitely felt more visceral than if everything ran properly.

As a side effect, I've had trouble with all the armored core games, dirge of cerberus, need for speed underground 2, black, GTA san andreas, GTA liberty city stories, shadow of colossus, time splitters: future perfect, and probably a handful of others I'm forgetting.

There are patches available to mitigate these issues, you can also change the blending accuracy and upscale resolution to help regain some frames. The lower the blending accuracy and the smaller the resolution, the better the game will run.

So like I said, give me a list of the games you're having trouble with and I'll help you set them up to run properly. I'm unemployed so I've spent a lot of time tinkering with emulation.
