SteamDeck reinstall Os Question
Hello , i ran into an error after updating my steamdeck and it took me to recovery which i tried rolling back into previous versions but it didn't work, now i am left with reinstalling steamos. my question is i have dual boot with windows working fine, if i REINSTALL STEAMOS will it retain my games and files on my steamos and also retain my windows? please i want to know what i can do so i don't lose my data on both steam os and windows

can someone please help me out
The way the reimage process works, you will lose both: Windows and SteamOS installations, so you'll have to perform a new dual boot install, plus reinstall all your games and other data you had previously.

Reinstalling SteamOS doesn't clear your data it is when you reimage steamdeck that is when it will clear your data.
That's why I'm asking about who has reinstalled steamOS and it didn't clear their windows
How then, enlighten us, do you "reinstall" SteamOS, if not with the recovery image? Resetting factory settings does nothing to the installed base OS and wipes all user write enabled data. So if you wanted to keep anything, you'd better do some back ups.

Resetting to factory settings is not quite the same as reinstalling (erasing and writing again) system data. For how SteamOS is made, only reimaging does a system reinstall.

Edit:

It IS possible to keep Windows, if only resetting to factory defaults, and hope it clears the errors you are getting. However it would seem something in the boot sequence has gone awry, meaning, only resetting factory defaults may (and almost certainly won't) be enough.
