Discover not working?
I installed the flathub-beta repo and it works but the main one doesn't. I've asked around in discords and people with existing Steam Decks seem to be working but anyone who factory resets, bought a new deck, or upgraded their SSD and used the recovery image can't get the discover app to work.

Any ideas?

Yeah, didn't work. Atleast by re-adding the beta, I can install browsers.

I wonder if it is SSL certificate related, and some certificate in the local cert store is out of date on the base image? Expired SSL cert?

Those who got updates before access was lost, switched over to the new SSL cert or such. Or some similar mechanism?

I got no idea, and honestly not a single clue about who to report this issue to. Steam doesn't really handle the Discover store or the flatpak repo so idk if they could even do anything.

Still an issue with the Steam Deck. Report it to Steam.

There are the basic troubleshooting steps that need to be performed to make sure it is not an internet or bandwidth issue.

Make sure you can ping the repository server, and that DNS is working. Make sure Steam is not downloading updates, or that Discover is not downloading updates in the background.

Steam might need to mirror the repository server to account for high sudden install bases, such as around Christmas.

I had this problem.

What I hadn't realised is that there was a massive update happening to discover store in the background.

Click the discover store icon and go to updates and let that run (took about 10 mins for me even on a decent 75mbps connection)

Once the updates have finished Firefox or any other Web browser you want to install become available.

Hope that helps everyone struggling.

Nope, I've done all the braindead troubleshooting so far and double checked that the discover store is not updating and it isn't. Shows "Up to date" when I went to the update screen.

Might just be a Discover or flatpak issue.

Looks like a flatpak issue.

I checked Discover on my deck and it reports that "Freedesktop Platform" is out of date, version 21.08.17.1 released on 12/20/2022 is the latest version.

Discover says I need a refresh of 22.08.4, a Development version. Also seeing reviews of Sonic Frontiers on the packages in Discover from "Steam Deck User" with a version 22.08.2.1 as of December 2022.

But I am well out of my league. I'm an APT user, Debian family of Linux.

I'm on Steam OS 3.4.4, Build 20221228.1.

Got my Deck back in July and never reinstalled. Discover is indeed working.

For some reason the flathub is not even showing on my steamdeck, I have no option to delete it.
