games running far better in desktop mode???
found a few games that run far smoother when in desktop mode
mostly this is not the case
biggest difference i noticed was on rune factory 3 special edition

Not surprising at all, as Desktop uses X11, and most games and Wine still use X11 as graphics backend. Game mode uses a custom Wayland compositor, and most games run on XWayland (an abstraction of X11 over Wayland)

the performance should be the same anyways, it's only the way it's presented on screen.

not what im getting.
not with every game, but a few its such a HUGE difference

It is quite more than that, but it does depend on the game (native Vs Windows) and the requirements. Most tests will yield a negligible difference between 2 or 5%, but some cases can go as high as 15 to 20%
