Steam Deck

Steam Deck

The SteamDeck's single USB port is seriously biting me rn
I wanted to use my steam deck portably using my VITURE XR glasses and a small wireless keyboard because typing without a keyboard is a miserable experience.
Turns out the keyboard I got for it uses RF wireless, which needs a small USB receiver to work, so I can't use it with the glasses.
But also I can't use the dock because the glasses require a video over USB-C thing which the dock doesn't have, and there's nothing of that sort on the dock. There is a HDMI dock thing for the glasses but that adds like 3 more cables and one huge extra dock which makes it no longer portable and I can't even use a USB hub because then I have this box awkwardly dangling off the deck which hinders the portability and possibly damages the cables or ports.

Using regular bluetooth keyboards isn't an option either because they're all way too big and don't have a touchscreen which my mini keyboard does have.

All I wanted was use my steam deck with a small portable screen and a small portable keyboard and I got all the parts and they work well individually but they don't fit together because of one tiny, seemingly insignificant pair of design desicions that render this entire use-case and impossible. Now I'm sad and frustrated.

This more or less is a vent post but also a plead to PLEASE VALVE WHATEVER YOU DO AS A STEAM DECK SUCCESSOR ADD A SECOND USB PORT
especially cuz I'm expecting screen-replacement glasses to somewhat take off in a couple of years because it is physically impossible to get any more portability out of a screen than putting a tiny one right in front of your eyes.

I have no clue how to find one of those, especially one that's small and lightweight enough to not get in the way.

The keyboard is a bit overkill don’t you think.
But I do agree a second USB c port would be very nice. Doesn’t need any more than that.
