Steam Deck
Steam OS?
Valve promised us Steam OS for other hardware, aside from the Steam Deck. It's been years since that announcement and it's nowhere to be found. :steamsad:

When/if they are ready to ship it, they will announce the crap out of it.

Until then, radio silence.

Until "whenever, basically", there's still HoloISO.

Just open the big picture mode, then you have steamOS. You could also install Linux on your PC if that's not enough for you.

That isn't SteamOS.

Especially if it’s Windows. That’s just putting lipstick on a decayed pig.

They also promised 3 follow-up episodes to half life 2 before half life 3. Does anyone think half-life 3 isn't happening?

Steam has trouble to legally oblige GPL license and publish their kernel sources 2years after release. I think your request is impossible at this point.

Open source my ass.

Were you able to compile it working on other distros?

At least since HoloISO works well that tells us it shouldn't be too difficult for them to release a generally compatible version. The problem is that Valve generally isn't very good at following through with stuff in a timely manner.

Eh, Bazzite's a better candidate for a not-SteamOS SteamOS counterpart, despite being a Fedora fork instead of an Arch fork like HoloISO. Things like fingerprint readers, gyro, and TDP control is more likely to work under Bazzite, especially if there's a build for specific your handheld.

HoloISO technically works on some hardware, but not that well.

It's worked well on the Desktops I tried it on, and seems to work well enough for the other's online who've tried it. Not sure how well it works on handhelds since I only have one PC handheld (steam Deck) and could definitely see why there would be issues with that due to the sensors specific to each handheld.

Ryzen 7K runs into frequent issues, and Nvidia and Intel GPUs might work well, might not, and the maintainers have no real intention of supporting either. There's also no TDP control
