you can see working windows tittles on proton here: https://www.protondb.com/
The anti-cheat work for Proton also hasn't been made available yet: they're hoping that it will be done before launch. Proton as it currently stands is simply included in the Steam Linux client. You can use it on any Linux distro if you want to try it out.
anti cheat like used in Dead by Daylight? thats very important ow. So this Steam Linux client are install-able as packages on Debian? I ssh a lot to Raspian. I dont really want a linux Desktop, that Steam Big Screen mode will be fine.
Dead By Daylight uses Easy Anti Cheat, I think? Yes, that's one of the ones they're specifically negotiating to make work. EAC works fine on Linux games, it's just that the Windows EAC detects Wine as Windows that's been tampered with.
Just a normal package.
The Steam client and all the Steam games are x86/x86_64, so they won't work on the ARM Raspberry Pi.
i know Raspberry Pi is arm. I meant to say i am most comfy with Debian since Raspian is based on it. Could you link the Steam client package for Debian please?
XD didnt think it was that easy! I will prepare a partition on my game pc and try it out thanks. I am a bit tired to boot Linux from a stick everytime i want to use it so its time to dual boot.
Edit: if you're most comfortable with something Debian-based, and you're preparing for the Steam Deck, you might want to consider going for Kubuntu instead: it uses KDE, the same as the Deck will.
yes its fun. If i find funds to get Steam Deck i probably will use it as my mobile ssh box to be totally geeky XD
You can watch this videos and there is more.

If you want to try it out you can get Garuda Linux https://garudalinux.org/. It's based on Arch & has KDE Plasma which Steam OS 3.0 uses.
Box86 and Box64 say otherwise. You absolutely can run some Steam games on the RPi... rather poorly, but it is technically possible. With faster ARM devices you can actually run some games well (see Owlboy running on a RockPi).
I haven't had much time to play around with it on my own Pi (running TwisterOS, which comes with Box86, Lutris, and Steam already installed), so I'm not sure if anything runs well enough to play, but Curse of Monkey Island (1997) ran smoothly and was only hindered by intermittent audio stuttering. Dropsy, a more recent 2D adventure game from 2015, ran with a lot of slowdown (maybe on an overclocked Pi?).
But enough of that rabbit hole. Back to discussion of compatibility layers that actually work well enough to play modern games.
