The line you need to type to set a sudo pass is impossible to do it accidental.
try to not get too riled up by an explanation :D
i think i know my PW but if i want to change it in console with the "passwd" command i can not type with my keyboard any letter?!?!
if i press three times "enter" it appears that Authentication failure - password unchanged.
I could change the Steam Deck User PW and i thought the second pw he want to know is my SUDO PW?
Keep in mind to test your keyboard layout in terminal before changing your password(s).
The process is
passwd
<current user pw><enter>
<new user pw><enter>
<new user pw><enter>
I went to install a program to which it came up TELLING ME to CHANGE my sudo password! Let me repeat for the idiots, it told me to change it.
I clicked into the area to change the password, but stopped and then set down my steam deck to look up what this password was on my phone. While setting it down I accidentally pressed something and it entered what I had accidentally pressed as my new CHANGED password. Now I cannot download anything to my steam deck, because I don't know what I entered. So it is IN FACT possible to enter a password by accident. It happened to me. Was it error on my part? Yes, but that doesn't change the fact that it shows up when it shouldn't and ASKS you to change it! It shouldn't even show up if you don't even actually need to use it. VALVE has to program it in this way, so it IS their fault that it shows up. They should re-code it to only show up if you have it set to show up and have it off by default. Also, needs to be an easier way to reset the password. Factory reset didn't work for me. Shouldn't be forced to re-image just for a password that it shouldn't be asking you to engage with in the first place. It's stupid plain and simple. (No matter what any of you say)
