Deck/Dock not recognizing monitor
Alright, some cursory searches aren't yielding results, so I'ma just ask.

I have an up-to-date Steam Deck. I have an up-to-date official dock. I want to keep my unit plugged in under my main monitor when I'm not using it handheld. However, it does not recognize my monitor on boot. Unplugging the Deck from the dock does nothing. Rebooting the Deck itself does nothing. I have to reach behind and fiddle with the HDMI cable every time I want to dock it and have it display

What's the deal? Having to mess with cables in my setup every time I want to use a thing sucks, and if there is something I'm missing, I'd sure love to know.

idk. did you go to destkop mode rightclick desktop and do display settings? I disable the deck internal monitor and make the external my primary. There is also a "detect" setting to detect monitors.

It could be that the kde display manger doesn't want to mess with ur monitor. I heard this doesn't fix it often, though. Maybe you already did this.

IDK about gaming mode and using a monitor. Mine works ok with external monitor.

There are some suggestions in the Dock specific section:

It seems the main workaround right now is an EDID Adapter.

Oof, I completely missed that there's a dock specific forum. Thanks for the link! I'll peruse it and check out your guys' own suggestions. I'm a little flummoxed that this doesn't just work, and that there seem to be so many dealing with and having to work around some variant of the issue.

Much obliged.
