24 hours of testing, 15 minutes of it actually working in total. I knew, I just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ KNEW when I turned it off that when I came back it would be broken again.... YUUP! Piece of ♥♥♥♥ again won't register the hdmi port. Who ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cares if you can fiddle with this for hours and get it to work if it's just gonna fail again once i put it to sleep mode.
This is honestly ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ pathetic, Valve. 95 dollars for a dock that works far worse than the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ 20 dollar one from China I got on Amazon. Seriously, what the ♥♥♥♥ Valve.
I have not seen the external display option in Steam Deck menus yet. WHen I have it plugged into the dock with teh HDMI connected it "thinks" it should output externally.. so I cannot even see the menus when it is plugged in with HDMI connected. When I unplufg the HDMi cable from teh dock but leave the Deck plugged into he Dock I can see menus on the Dech's screen.. but have not noticed any option for external display.
Is there a helper tutorial somewhere on this issue?
Makes em wonder if this was why the dock was delayed.. I figured it was "supply chain issues".. maybe its bugs but they said, WTF, Ship it.
Was able to get the deck displaying on the TV after just power cycling it multiple times....... aaaannnddd now none my games work.... I press start and it just sits in an endless steam logo loading loop. All my installed games are doing this now.
Thanks valve, your dock barely works, and when it does, it breaks the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ console todo so.
Again:
what. A. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Joke.
I’m really confused as to what is causing this. I received my dock today and it was initially working before it started having the same problem as everyone else has been happening in this thread. I checked the HDMI connection with a different dock (my Apple dongle that I use for my iPad lol) and it works, so it’s definitely the official dock that’s having the problem. I’m honestly really disappointed. I was waiting specifically for the official dock and it’s a shame to see it shipped in this state.
I’m hoping that this is just a firmware issue and that they’ll be able to patch this, because this workaround makes me feel like I’m using some sort of shady, third party piece of crap. Would love it if Valve addressed this. Probably going to reach out to their customer support concerning this issue because I’m less than thrilled.
Hello,
We appreciate your feedback regarding the issue with the dock. We have some suggestions to help remedy what you're experiencing with the device.
Please attempt re-imaging your Steam Deck using the instructions available here.
Let us know the results and we'll assist further.
Best Regards,
Patrick
I'm not re-imaging my deck as an attempt to fix a dock issue, returning mine, this is not acceptable for a $100 dock.
I know support has to send out generic rubbish answers, but the devs need to get their act together and fix the underlying problem.
It worked for me too.. something worked via connecting/reconnecting.. changing various settings. Thanks a lot. The posts about this method gave me hope to try and try again.
I’m having issues too :/ how do we report to valve? I’m completely new to steam and a friend of mine convinced me to get the deck and I love it to death. But now I got the deck and I’ve been dying to finally play on my big screen. I feel I may have messed up the update because my deck completely froze and I had to hard reset since I got no reaction…. Idk what to do. I
In some cases the Deck didn't detect the screens at all but in most cases it did (screen when blank) but the screen didn't (No signal)
The working LG Monitor is 720p, Lenovo Monitor is 3440x1440 and TV is 4K
To do this you have to connect the Deck first and then go the source, so the menu will be enabled in the settings. After setting it I had to disconnect the dock from the Deck and then connect it again and everything worked
