Is Updated Fan Control safe to leave on?
I’m sensitive to sounds even a fan in the background when I’m trying to focus on game audio, so I prefer to leave Updated Fan Control on as it’s silent as hell. However, as the temps reach around 50-60 idle and 70-90 in some games like Snowrunner and Dead by Daylight, it leaves to question if leaving Updated Fan Control is good long term? Can it decrease the longevity of the device or damage the hardware in any way? I know it can feel very hot but only near the vents or on the back/touch screen.

No damage. I don't know the rated max temp for the APU in the Deck, but they're generally around the 90-100° level. As chips approach their max temp they'll throttle to reduce the load, and therefore the heat, and ultimately shut down so that there's no damage.

As I recall, the newer fan curve doesn't do anything about the high end - max speed is max speed - it's just about how keenly the fan ramps up at lighter loads.

90c is really hot and I wouldn’t let it run past that. I use a custom fan curve and let that thing spin at 7k rpm and it never goes about 85c

Ambient temps, airflow and what you are playing will have a big impact on your device temperatures. i.e. just because someone else is say at 70C that doesn't mean that's where you should be at. Even with the updated fan curve, full fan is still full fan. i.e. the max fan output won't change, just how it gets there. If the fan isn't going pretty hard at your temps, then there maybe something wrong with the fan. Another post for reference:

i have been thinking about using a custom fan curve and setting it to like a sweet spot between updated fan curve and setting off. but idk how to

Turning down the clock speeds help with cooling

That's a new one. Not screwing with the fans would be a better option.
