How to configure controls on Dolphin emulator?
I don't like the default control scheme that EmuDeck installed for the Gamecube. I've been trying to configure the buttons, but the emulator doesn't recognize the Steam Deck's built-in controller. Is there some setting you have to turn on in dolphin itself or can you configure the controls in game mode?

These things are best done in game mode.

The controller should be detected by the emulator as a 360 controller.

I have also issues. The buttons cannot be assigned

I would just go into the game settings in game mode to change buttons.

Yes, I tried but I reassigned in dolphin controller settings in desktop mode and almost all the buttons are recognized (X and Y are not). Then I tried to game mode to reassign the button but It doesn't recognize any button. Which device should I select for a gamecube game? SDL/0/Microsoft X-Box 360 pad 0 is the recommended in almost all the tutorials, but it doesn't work for me. I need to select XInput2//Virtual core pointer to have almost all the buttons in desktop mode, but as I said X and Y are not working. Do you have any idea?
I'm not sure. I'm using a version of Dolphin that EmuDeck configured. If you don't have EmuDeck, I would just get that and have it configure the Dolphin settings automatically. I've been able to re-map the buttons in gaming mode with EmuDeck.

See my issue is that for some reason my right stick is inverted and no matter what I do I can't get it back to normal.
Dolphin GC emulator doesn't recognize my "controller" either? Is there a fix?

I'm going to join this thread and say EmuDeck is fantastic, but either EmuDeck or Dolphin really dropped the ball on getting things right for Steam Deck. I can't get a second controller to work, and I can't configure a sensible controller set up. You might be able to get it configured properly if you run Dolphin directly instead of Emulation Station.

Dolphin runs games extremely well, but is there an emulator that's easier to configure on Steam Deck?

I've been using RetroDeck and it's been fine. I haven't tried multiple controllers to know if it would have the issues that folks in this thread have been having with others.
I found a RetroDeck on Discover, but no EmuDeck. Haven't tried it yet, but it would be nice to have an all-in-one emulator that actually works well on the deck. Hoping this is it...
