Faulty hardware can happen no matter the vendor; if you get hardware that doesn't work and you don't even try to get a replacement for it, you can't really judge it based solely on that.
The only real tempting point for the official dock for me was that it comes with an additional power supply but since I never really played while charging anyway, mainly due to the valve charger being a bit short and expensive compared to others I didn't see much point.
Then I got the M.2 JSAUX dock which I'm currently trying to get a refund for. Personally, I'd prefer going for the official, even with the negative reports in the dock forum.
