Full GOG Galaxy launcher functionality on Steam Deck

So, I got my deck yesterday and was hyped to continue playing some of my GOG games on it, as I heard you can launch both EGS and GOG games on deck.

There is well known Heroic Games Launcher and it did the trick for the most part, but I found a way to launch normal GOG Galaxy client that allows you to fully utilize GOG features like trophies, cloud saves etc.

The method is like this:
1. Setup Heroic Games Launcher and sign in to your Epic Games Store (this is well documented so I'll skip the details)
2. I open Heroic in deck mode (not in desktop mode) so you can utilize Proton from Steam
3. Go to "Shops" tab and browse EGS for GOG Galaxy app (yup there is one on EGS)
4. Add to your library the GOG Galaxy app. At this point it will try to install it immediately, but don't bother
5. Refresh your Heroic games library and you should see GOG Galaxy on your EGS account app list
6. Install it through Heroic Games Launcher, you will go through normal installation process
7. After installation finishes you can launch gog galaxy from heroic games launcher
8 You should see normal GOG login, after which the GOG galaxy client opens up
9. You have full functionality so you can download and launch games as well as have cloud save and trophy support.

It is a crazy inception but it works! Now I can play GOG games and have easy cloud saves and still get all trophies.

So TLDR:
Setup Heroic Games Launcher so you can launch it as a game from steam deck mode
Add to library GOG galaxy through Heroic Epic Games Store shop browser
Launch GOG Galaxy as one of games on your EGS account through Heroic Launcher
Login to Galaxy and enjoy full client functionality.

GOG is so be far behind Steam but yeah nice to works great on the Deck but not all games do

the best launcher and games manager currently available is lutris, for gog, epic, and pretty much everything else. check that one instead.

That is great, but installing anything related to epic on my systems in a definite no go. I would rather just keep running the windows version on my deck.

The GOG login wasn't showing up correctly for me when it was time to log in so i redid the GOG installation in desktop mode and worked! thanks for this!

followed all steps but now stuck on Launching GOG galaxy, i've tried this in both mods and i get an error of cant location game database?

Heroic incorporates GOG Galaxy features through comet now.

This thread is fairly old so what worked then may not work now. As WarnerCK mentioned, Heroic has also added more features. If you are still hellbent on using the actual GOG launcher, try this:
