Help Steam + X suddenly stopped working

I just downloaded a small update for the deck, suddenly steam + X ist not working anymore, i cant bring up my keyboard anymore. What happened? I am not talking about desktop mode, everything works fine there... help me pls

Exact same problem here. It was fine this morning, then i downloaded an update and keyboard stopped working in game mode completely. Most likely devs screwed something up with this update

you probably have the steam client closed in desktop mode. Just launch the Steam App on dektop mode and the controller settings working again.

Did you even read OP? Everything works fine in desktop mode.

From what I understand, the last update changed the desktop controls. In theory, you should be able to bring up the virtual keyboard by just pressing X, and close it by pressing the Steam button. Also, now L2 is right click, R2 is left click and sometimes the left trackpad click will make sticky notes (happened to me, don't know how it stopped). Personally, I'm not a fan of this update and wish it went back to how it was before, because now, it breaks the controls on desktop apps that aren't launched through steam, and, sometimes, also those that are launched through steam.

Edit1: Woops, missed the fact that it's working for you in desktop mode, nevermind the first part (though I still dislike the update).

I am having the same problem, I can't open the keyboard while in gaming mode. Using desktop mode it works again, but the problem is: playing games on desktop mode is janky and not as comfortable as playing on gaming mode and I can't login on final fantasy 14 without the virtual keyboard, so the update broke the game for me. What the hell valve?

Have you tried turning it off and on again? Most times the simplest things can fix issues like this. Since you said it updated, sometimes it helps to turn it off and on again and see if this fixes the issue.

NOTE: This means turning off completly the steam deck, and not just have it go into sleep mode.

I have the issue too and did shut down my Steam Deck. A temporary solution is to press ... and select the keyboard icon at the bottom left. That still works.

happend to me after the update in desktop mode, i couldnt play my emulators bc the X button brings up the keyboard now instead of STEAM BUTTON & X BUTTON.

killed my vibe kind of morning, but willing to look past it. glad im not the only one with issue

Hey, do you found a solution? Bc rn i'm have same problem with a same game.
