I installed pc kingdom hearts 1 and 2 on my deck but there's an issue

Both of them are running through proton-ge and preforms pretty good but I'll just talk about kingdom hearts 2 right now. So the issue I have is sometimes it'll just randomly close itself. It's happened to me about 5 times I believe, is there any way I can stop that from happening? Like do you have to type a certain command in the launch options?

For example a game I have called "Slippi" in the launch options you have to set "--no-sandbox" for it to even load up at all in game mode

For "Black Mesa" I read you have to set "-oldgameui" to help fix some graphical issues I believe.

So is there anything I can type in the launch options that could solve that issue?

The best course of action would be to check the ProtonDB and see if there are any workarounds for that particular issue on Deck (also check the PC section, as some options may help on the Deck as well)

It's an Epics Store title and not available on Steam (so it won't be in ProtonDB).

Bump cause i just ordered my steam deck and i also own the KH games on Epic so i'd like to see a solution to this if there is one to be found.

True that. In that case, I'd go to either Lutris or Heroic Launcher's forums. Less likely that someone there would have the same specific issue, let alone a Deck, but chances are it is a known condition, as it does seem the games both are popular and do seem to have a few issues (ranging from codecs to stability)

Sorry for the late reply I didn't get any notification but that's the thing I did everything a YouTuber shows you how to do it but for some odd reason lutris won't load it up for me

Personally (not to Bash on Lutris), I've had little luck with it (plus I find its runners as too much HDD overhead, a scarce resource in the Deck context), and instead have many more head aches. Also true, that I tend to avoid other 'launcher's' games, and instead use pure Windows apps (such as GOG/Humble) with Wine or Steam

I have maybe a solution to Kingdom hearts I haven't fully tested it yet but I think if you install Windows you know people don't like it sometimes I guess it's a solution to play Kingdom hearts I've tried Kingdom hearts 3 and so far I've had no issues but I've only gotten past a little bit of the beginning of the game but that's how I got it working so far I haven't been able to get it working through the heroic launcher hope this helps anyone I would like to know though if it's powerful enough to run a completely though sadly I don't have the means to test that in the sense I've never finished the game before but I like the Kingdom hearts series and I would like to know if anyone else has an opinion on it I would also like to mention I do booted my steam deck with Windows 10 and the steamos but keep in mind this is all on the original steam deck not the new one

Erm - I think the user would rather avoid ripping out their OS if at all possible.

But also I forgot to mention I had trouble with the boating so you know so don't do that just keep them in the bios and you'll be able to launch them from a bios I don't recommend doing some of the tutorials that the people have on a dual booting through normal way just put both Windows 10 on it after putting a steamos on them and then make a partition and stainless using I guess third-party software to do it like I did I forget what the software was called that I used to do it but there should be a video was up there to get you started and then in that petition put Windows 10 in there by splitting the storage in other words but don't combine both windows and steam West together in a sense of dual boating and when steamos does that it updates and it will mess up Windows for it and I'll get rid of steamos sometimes so if you just keep everything in the bios you should be fine to have both I've always gone into the BIOS anyways so it never was a problem for me hope this helps anyone

Yeah I understand it is a lot of work but since I haven't when I do about it in a sense I guess you can call it it just works without having any complications so far but thanks for the feedback I I'm glad someone responded honestly but I hope this really does help someone though

Its a solution...... but should be saved for last basically - its not that bad really.

For the one part of the section I said about that last message I'm using voice command to speak so maybe some of my words messed up during the end there but dual booting is what I meant in a sense that I can call it that I looked at my message and it didn't fully come through sorry about that

And yeah you might be right about it being difficult for an average person doing it but some for most people it should be fine if they know what they're doing however it shouldn't just be done in my opinion with someone that doesn't know what they're doing but honestly I don't know a lot what I was doing either I followed a tutorial on YouTube and when I began to have problems with the dual booting that they set up I decided to keep everything in the bios and that seemed to work for me but I know it's not for everyone I just figured this might help someone is all

And just in case anyone's wondering about me keeping all in the bios I have Windows 10 and there and steamos however I don't combine them to a single menu because it seems that's where it has problems and even with the last update on stmls even though I can't always find my stimulus in the bios if I find it in the boot from file or whatever it's called it works but that's just my experience I can't speak for everyone I just figured I'd let everyone know
