Steamdeck dock doesn't charge the PS5 controller
Well, so i thought the deck would be forgetting about the controller, I thought ti was broken, but it turns out that even if I plug the USB C cable to the dock, the controller just doesn't charge, and eventually stops working.

What do I do? why is my dock not charging the controller?

Are you using original cable with the ps5 controller?

Yes i am.

It is attached to the steam deck official dock by USB C cable.
it still does not charge.

Must PCs don't charge Console controllers. My PS4 controller doesn't get charge by my PC.

Woke up the morning with the same issue. I was using it via Bluetooth but a recent update made it so the controller wouldn't reconnect to the game after sleep - so I plugged it in instead. Woke up in the morning and the DualSense is dead. I can't win!

While I haven't actually tested it with a multimeter, the USB-A ports on the dock probably do not provide a high enough amperage to charge PS5 controllers. Most USB-A ports on PCs can provide 500 mA in USB 2.0 mode or 900 mA in USB 3.0 mode, which is fairly low and intended mostly just for powering peripherals like keyboards and mice; batteries usually charge very slowly or not at all off of them.

You'll probably have to either plug it into the PS5 or a controller charging dock. A fast-charging wall adapter might work, although I would be cautious with anything that doesn't explicitly support PS5 controllers, as I've read about PS4 controllers being bricked by plugging them into wall chargers that did not comply properly with official specs.

Having the same issue with my DualShock 4. Makes no sense why the USB3 ports on the dock can’t put out sufficient power. They’re getting fed with enough juice from the 45W wall plug

Yeah. Initially it also worked for me, my controller would pulsate an orange glow until today it just wouldn’t even charge let alone be powered by the deck anymore. I guess I’ll have to settle with using my ps5 to charge the controller.

Same issue here
Ps5 controller dies
Recharge it for a minute in an external charge then connect it back via came to Steamdeck and it could run for hours. Stop playing come back next day and the controller is dead. I have to charge it again using an external charger for a minute and repeat...

Very annoying

I only have this problem with the official dock, my off brand dock charges a PS5 controller just fine.
