Can I use a 65W Charger?
I found a flat charger with detachable sockets which also has a foldable UK plug but it's 65W and has 2.4a USB socket. I want it because its perfect as a travel charger in a case!

Yep. 65W is just the maximum it can provide. It's not going to attempt to force the Deck (or any other device) to accept all 65W if it doesn't need it.

Just checking it won't burn it out. My understanding is that you can't use a 45/65w charger on normal none fast charge devices?

You can't? Woops. I used the SD's charger on my phone. Would I have killed it immediately if it can't charge fast?

I googled it, USB-C supports something called PD (Power Delivery) which is a requirement/Spec of all USB-C devices. So charging none fast charge devices should be fine.. I think..

So using an USB-C adaptor on a USB-B device will certainly burn it out.. I think.. I haven't found a definitive answer.. xD

You can use the higher wattage chargers on smaller devices just fine. Properly designed chargers start with the standard output of 5V and then negotiate with the attached device to increase power if requested. Heck, you can plug devices that can't even charge into power adapters, and nothing bad will happen. Somewhere I have a photo of a USB-C ethernet adapter plugged into a Macbook charger that I sent to someone else saying "This is how you get power over ethernet, right?" Didn't cause any problems.

Edit: found it https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/386335167037308928/492084354919694376/IMG_20180919_150347.jpg
End of the day, unless you get a crap charger that blindly dumps 20V into any device that you connect, you won't have problems. Even if you use a USB C to A adapter to connect to devices that don't support any kind of fast charging.

Thank you. I was worried cause I once burnt out a USB hub, but that was a CHEAP one..

Do you think it's OK to post the plug I want to get on here?
It's a Chinese brand but a known one that sells a lot of basic chargers on Amazon.

The way watts law works isn't "how much it can force". That's what volts are. Watts are more "how big is the bucket?" Think of the charger as the storage bucket that takes 110v and converts it down to 5v. The force is now 5v. The 65w is how big it can store extra juice before it converts into heat energy. Volts times watts = amps and that's how much power you use.

Volts * amps * PF = watts

PF is a measure of efficiency, usually 0.8 - 0.9

Yeah it's all interchangable.

Can you link the charger please, this sounds like a great device. Thanks.

The only place you can get it is Aliexpress or eBay (or some sketchy site), but this link is just to show the item from a website we all know as its out of stock there. :P

But this item is soo good if you are from the UK because we have those huge 3 pin plugs and the 3 pin plug on this actually folds down! Perfect for a travel case.

The charger has to output 15volt by 3amps for full charge rate

Whoah there... it's not at all interchangeable. You can't just exchange one term on one side of an equal sign for another term without changing an operator - that's not how algebra works.

Watts = Volts * Amps
therefore
Amps = Watts / Volts

And not at all does V * W = A; you say above "Volts times watts = amps"... please see http://wikipedia.org/wiki/Watt

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
