Xbox Wireless Adapter support
Anyone know if the Xbox Wireless Adapter is supported? Now that the dock is released, I plan on using it with a Xbox Wireless Adapter which apparently worked on steam link.

I know there are Linux drivers already available but afaik will cease working with every deck update. I'd rather wait for official support.

Workaround for now:

I don't wish to add the direct command here because running random commands in the shell without knowing what they do can be bad! I just wish Valve added support themselves so less technically inclined folk could safely use their controllers!

The thing about xbox one controllers is there are two versions. Bluetooth (works out of the box) and non-bluetooth (older, with proprietary communication protocol). The latter requires a wireless adapter. The adapter requires drivers (windows and linux drivers available). Its basically a question if valve supports this or no.

It's not supported. Would probably work with drivers but it does not work out of the box. I just tested it to verify but I'm too lazy to install drivers.

Thanks for the input!

Still not supported. Pain in the ass to get set up, broken after OS updates. Specific kernel headers missing from valve's servers to get the xone install script running. My Steam Deck Docking station is effectively useless until I can get Xbox One wireless dongle up and running on it.

Bluetooth is limited and it absolutely sucks.

The new controllers let you switch between BT and XWA on the fly and it's been great for switching between my Deck and PC really quickly, I honestly think that feature alone is worth just replacing your controller altogether with one of the new Series controllers, just my two cents.

PS4 & Steam Controller works great via Bluetooth...
My Xbox 360 Controller is wired :rfacepalm:

We need to let valve know we need this support!! I dont know where else or how else to reach them...

Please Valve, we need support for the adapter to use old controllers that doesn't have bluetooth.

Please add support for the Xbox Wireless Adapter! I feel so stupid for buying the dock and realizing I'd have to jump through hoops just to use my pad.

It's a bit of a pain, but this works if you have the old type with the dongle.

If you have a different model that doesn't need xone, but it still isn't working, you may just need to update the controller (using Xbox accessories app on PC)

Would be nice if Valve included this driver in future updates like they did in steamos 3.4 with the 8bitdo drivers.

This works fine and Its what I've been doing ever since I've gotten the deck. At least we have a workaround. Every update will break this and you need to reinstall it again. Deck updates come about once per month so... ymmv. Its just annoying to me since I take my deck out with my controllers about once a month to play at other peoples houses and I'm always reminded to reinstall the drivers just as I'm about to leave.

You'd think that driver support for this thing would be higher on the list than 8bitdo.
come on Valve! I wanna mess around with this thing on my tv.
