Cant install game from GOG
I really wanted to play Cyberpunk on my Steamdeck, but I have it on GOG (it was cheaper!). I downloaded the Heroic games launcher, and tried to download it on there. The download kept stalling after about 30 seconds, and would not continue. So I tried Lutris. It took about 6 hours to download all the files. I started installing it, got to about 80% and it told me some of the files were corrupt. i tried to redownload the corrupted files only to find out the app had deleted everything.

I cant be bothered to try again. Is there another way to get my Cyberpunk game on Steamdeck? The only other option I see is buying it on steam.

Minigalaxy might be an option? I don't own the game and the stuff I've seen previously has suggested either Heroic or Lutris. Or maybe Bottles. You could also try downloading the installer from GOG, adding it as a non-steam game using Proton, running it, and then changing that Steam entry so that it's pointing to the installed executable rather than the installer.

Having said that, it might just be a troublesome or temporary network issue, and everything will be fine once that's resolved.

Lots of games which were not acquired on Steam wont work. Into the breach (epic), dead cells (gog) and many other wont even start. I had to rebuy titanfall 2, into the breach. Some work but many wont.
It is Master Gabe plan to make you double dip and get thay Steam game with Steam tax.

Hi, yesterday I installed Cyberpunk 2077 from HeroicGameLauncher and the visual feedback on the download was interrupted at 0.87%, however the download was still happening (I checked from the explorer that the size of the directory was growing), the game has finally been correctly installed and it is playable.

Ok, interesting. I decided to give Heroic another go, as you said that even tho the visuals said it had stalled, it was still going. Well, everything seems to be working fine now. It says 25% done, and 2:15 hours remaining. So I'm wondering if it was a network issue, even though everything else seemed to be working fine (I was watching youtube on my PC with no issues). I wonder if my ISP was annoyed at me for hogging bandwidth though, I only received my steamdeck on Thursday, and I've been downloading games since then!

Thanks for the replies though, hopefully it works this time.

Heroic reports time incorrectly - it’s an very old issue. It’s not actually stalled.

If you pause the download, save the files and restart it, it will display the time correctly until it goes wonky again. It’s suppose to be better in Desktop mode but it’s pretty much still has issues.

People recommend just leaving it, and pausing/restarting when you want to know how it’s going. The Heroic devs are most likely aware since there’s been posts in the bug section.

It seriously just doesn’t like large GOG games but will install them fine.

i got a long ago "into the breach" from epic, and i was able to install and play it in linux using lutris.

some games may not, but many do: sometimes you just need to use the right version of proton and maybe additional settings. in many cases you just need to research what others have tried, and maybe try something new if nothing works. sometimes just using a more recent version of proton is all that is needed; sometimes only an outdated version will work. depends if the game is recent or not, if it needs a launcher, etc.

i advice to avoid heroic.

Quick update, they pushed a update for the Heroic Launcher that might’ve solved the issue with GOG downloads.

It was either yesterday or today.

Oh that explains a lot. Thanks for the update. I managed to install cyberpunk with the heroic launcher, and had no problems. It also runs perfectly. Although the battery only lasts about 2 hours! I've tried using the performance tweaks in steam but they don't seem to have an effect on non stream games. I've also tried running it at the steam deck in game graphics settings, which had no effect either. Kind of annoying, but i can understand the reasons.

I installed the gog launcher on the deck and downloaded cyberpunk directly from the launcher. The game runs well.
