I need to calibrate the triggers
Found a guide on ifixit, doesn't work
trigger_cal
Permission denied
Set up sudo and I get the same error.
Does anyone have a fix for this?

Try Windows 7

You don't need sudo to run the application.

But you do need sudo, and to have made the filesystem writable, to make the program executable, since it isn't for some reason. Same for the similar thumbstick_cal. Maybe they'll fix it in a future update. I trust that you've filed a bug report, and contacted the author of the ifixit guide that you're following? I'm sure you already know that chmod +x is a way to add the execute permission.

Not that you need to calibrate the triggers unless you've replaced them, of course.

Yeah it's not working and adding it as a no steam game is really difficult. I can't figure it out.

Op[en Desktop Mode, open Steam, go to Library, click Add a Game at the bottom left, Add a non-steam game. trigger_cal won't be in the list, to find it hit Browse at the bottom. In Look In: change to /usr then double click "bin". Finally change File Type to All Files. Now you should be able to scroll through and select trigger_bin. Click Open. Now go back to game mode and look in library under the Non-Steam tab. Try running it from there. If it's still a no go then I think you are out of options, time to start talking to valve about a RMA.

All that does is restart the steam deck. What a pile of garbage. Why doesn't this have a calibration tool in the gui itself? Good Lord...

Has it occurred to you that maybe one of your triggers is just broken and you are chasing a red herring?

OMG Lauren, I'm not sure why you think this didn't work it is working fine. I'm not sure anyone SHOULD do this, but I decided to humor you and try myself.

She claims that Valve never disclosed the Deck runs Linux when it's listed on the specs.

She also claims to have done the initial setup on the deck on a WiFi 6 network...when WiFi 6 isn't supported in the Deck.

Right but it didn't show the numbers like the one video says. It didn't do anything so I assume I would need to use an older version of steam os, then update after. I mean it might be broken. But the software tool doesn't work. I'm going to install windows 11 on it later, install steam, and use the controller config from control panel, but I have a feeling that you're right and that trigger might be broken. I feel like a config tool with a nice gui would fix my issue. I hope Valve makes one. I've contacted support and I'll go from there. Thanks for all your help.

He literally showed you the result of him doing it. I doubt he's using an old version.

Ok that fixed it. I had to use the full screen terminal on mine for some strange reason. Ctrl-alt-F4 and I then turned it back to read only and it's working perfectly now. Goes from 0 to 32767 on both triggers perfectly now. Thank you so much and I really appreciate your help!
