Proton experimental, question
Some games use proton experimental, by default
Will valve change the default proton, then proton get updated?
Or if an update to proton experimental break the game
Sound, video, etc.?

You can use Proton GE instead. If proton by Steam does not work. Since I noticed Steam client downloads own proton versions as well

I suspect they'll only switch from experimental to stable for any particular game if they retest it. They are doing bug tracking for particular games, and putting fixes into the stable branch but... there are a lot of games.

Games get put back into the queue when developers ask for it, or when Valve think they need retesting - normally for games that didn't work and now might. They might retest a game if there's a particular fix from experimental that the game needed, but not for every update to experimental.

How does valve know if a experimental update break a game?
And need to retest?

People complain. Plus, some might write proper bug reports.

You worry too much. If you want you can stop updating any proton or game with options.
Any update to any program or game itself can cause problem. You know that. But after update again, you will get better running game.
